The Cow Pies

It's not so much of a trail as it is a slick rock playground. Wear a helmet, pack a picnic and enjoy the slick rock. There are some hairy lines, 30' (or so) cliffs, and plenty of slick rock for everyone. Gorgeous views of Sedona can be had and the sun will set directly over town from the Pies. Primo camping spot a bit further up the road at The Carousel, which is easily visible from the Pies. Enjoy what Mother Nature has left for us.

Trail Directions
Drive or ride up Schnebly (sp?) Hill Rd about 3 miles. The access is on the left of the road and hard to spot, but you'll see the Cow pies on your left as your climb. It's a large patch of red Sedona slick rock sticking out from the hill.

Summary:
Again, not so much of a trail as a slickrock playground. Its a good stop on the way up or down Munds Wagon to fart around for a few. Don't go here expecting Moab's Slickrock trail, but do go with an eye for rideable lines and have fun; unlike slickrock trail there are no painted marks to follow. Its a great area to get used to rolling in...

Summary:
Cow pies really is not much of a trail but a location to go to off a trail. Munds wagon Trail is a trail that takes you up Schnebly Hill Road and the Cow Pies are some slick rock patches on a little rocky side trail. If you go past the Cow Pies there is a trail that takes you out to a saddle, and then if you are extreem you can take a radical technical downhill to the bottom of the canyon ending up at Grasshopper Point. This would be for good riders with technical skills only.

Huckaby, Munds Wagon, Broken arrow, Llama, Templeton, Little Horse

Summary:
This ride kicks butt. Munds wagon trail is pretty cool but just wait until you get on Cow Pie. After you get across the slickrock you'll soon be in technical riders heaven. This is one of the most demanding technical trails I've ever seen in Sedona. The whole section from the saddle down to HWY 89 is the total bomb. Big drops, lots of of slickrock, beautiful views, awesome steep trail. Plan to crash because this trail is world cup style. This trail is not for the weak of hearts and should be ridden by experts. Or I guess you could "hike the bike" if you had too. The trail is not well marked and very seldomly ridden, my guess is the difficulty. So bring your trail finding blood hound.

Recommended Route:
Start at the parking lot where Huckaby trail and Munds train start. Ride up Munds wagon trail until you get to the Cow Pie trail. Ride Cow Pie trail up and over the slick rock following back down twards Sedona but up against the spires. Eventually you go up and over a saddle inbetween two big spires. curve around the right side of the saddle and follow an awesome trail down the other side which ends just north of Grasshopper point on HWY 89. Ride Down HWY 89 to Midgley bridge and jump on Huckaby trail back over to the parking lot on Schnebly hill rd.

Summary:
This is not really much of a ride, just a half-hour of playing on some mediocre slickrock. If you've been to Moab it's a bit of a letdown.
Don't drive up the road, it's really worth the ride down, just watch for cars.

Recommended Route:
Same as above

I have to agree with this review but then this little trail is all about the views you get out from the slickrock. It is worth going out there when you ride Munds Wagon. It Moab Slick Rock but then they don't have the great single track that Sedona has!!
