Fletcher Point

Make sure you go bike your butt to the top by taking the very technical, switchback, climbing trail. Be careful coming down because it is very fast and dangerous, but very FUN!

Summary:
This is an awesome trail, quick, short and sweet. I am assuming this trail was meant to be labeled Fisher Point though? That is what the locals have always called it. Park at the Community College.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Lake Mary(road riding)
Mount Eldon Trail System
Abineau Canyon/Waterline Trail

Fort Tuthill Trail System including Soldiers Trail and miles of doubletrack past the Archery Ranges.

Summary:
This trail is awesome, I call it beginner even though the mile long climb up walnut canyon to Fischer point is somewhat technical. This is a great trail for an early morning warm up ride, or for beginners that want a challenge with some awesome downhill thrown in. The view from the top is great, Walnut canyon, Mt. elden, San Francisco Peaks, all while standing in one spot

Recommended Route:
It's Fischer point, not Fletcher. Everyone suggests Lonetree but my way has better singletrack, by the way I live less than 1/2 mile from the start and ride it almost every day to warm up, so I know. Take Lake Mary Road towards Payson, Lake Mary Road intersects with I-17 about 1/2 mile south of Flagstaff. Take Lake Mary Road about 2 miles, you will see a water treatment facility on your left, take the dirt road on your left just after the treatment plant. Park right off the pavement and get you butt on your bike, head down the road until you see several logs with a cable blocking the road to your left, throw your bike over the gate. The blockade is to stop cars, don't worry, we're legal. take the singletrack down through skunk canyon, after coming out of the trees you will hit a T intersection, take a right, about a half mile later take a left at the Y, take a left at the next Y which will be the AZ trail, follow the signs up to fischer point, not fletcher.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
The Az trail goes southeast toward marshall lake or northeast toward walnut canyon national park visitors center. To marshall lake is a stroll, ride out 7 miles and bring a picnic. To the visitors center is an expedition. The 15 miles out include bombing up and down walnut canyon (always keep speed controlled) and lots of technical stuff, DONT GO OUT THERE without food, the visitors center doesn't have much and climbing out of the canyon is hard. Or, have someone out there with some food and beer so you don't have to ride 15 hard, tired miles back(of course, shuttling is for woosies). Have Fun
