Weekend Warrior Summary: Great system. Has a little bit of everything, even a mini mormon/national (see south mountain trail system for reference) at the top called The Grunt. Also, the builders built some nice jumps to hit when you're blazing down the hill towards the trailhead. Best of all, it was built by mountain bikers for mountain bikers so hikers and equestrian yield to us. They should actually post a sign at the trailhead to warn hikers. Recommended Route: It's a pretty compact system so just ride em all. It was my first time out there and I rode almost all of the trails in a little over 2hrs and that included several breaks so that my pathetically out of shape body could catch its breath. Other recommended trails in the same area: Nothing else around for miles as far as I know.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Notice to all readers. Previous reviewers failed to mention that every square inch of Estella Mountain Ranch and it's parks and trails system is private property. If you are not a resident or registered guest, you are trespassing and subject to arrest and prosecution. It is not a city park. Once you pass south of the Estrella monument sign on Estella Parkway you are on private property. Recent arrests and prosecutions have begun using a system newly installed video surveillance, similar to the system use on the highways to identify faces and license plates. Vehicles parked at the trailhead on Weststar and surrounding school parking lots are being surveilled and information recorded for future use. Park and ride at your own risk. Don't be surprised to return to your car to find that it has been towed and when you call the police to report it stolen, to be ticketed or arrested for trespassing.

Weekend Warrior Summary: My first ride on the west side, it was a long drive but great exposure to new trails. I like the short uphills and lots of rocks. I'm used to riding the McDowell trials, but this was a nice change. It was like a mini-theme park for us; when you get trough a trail that you really love it's easy to find a trail to loop around and do it again. The uphills are short and sweet and the trails are easy to follow. Recommended Route: Muriel's mile around the perimeter back to the start, and then Kim's climb over to Hurt's donut and back down. I like the switchbacks going down hurts donut, a mini version of sunset trail at Mcdowell without the punishing climb.

Weekend Warrior Summary: I like this trail because theres alot of fun trail in a small area. If you want a longer ride..just do the circumfrence trail, then hit all the sweet and fun single track in the middle. I like how the trail goes threw a lot of rock formations. Recommended Route: I would recomend exploring whatever part looks good to you. You can't get lost because theres a sign at most junctions. Other recommended trails in the same area: Seems to be only 2 choices for west phx. I don't like west phoenix because its soooo big. If you don't live near a trial. You probally have to drive FAR to get to one.
