Dome Mountains

Average Rating:    (2 of 5)

Head out of Yuma central approximately 32 miles to the turn off for the Dome Mountain Road. This turnoff is past the Martinez Lake turnoff. Then head 10 miles up a dirt road to where you see a marker for #75, It is just before the Dome Mountain Mines hoo-haa, Park anywhere and ride the two track as you want. There are interesting mines and shafts at about 4 miles, One shaft goes straight through a small hill--you can see light through the tunnel.

The pin on the map is all wrong. It needs to be further west along the Martinez Lake Road. The two track from the Painted Desert Nature Trail is best to ride and is really known from that point NW as the Red Cloud Mine Road. Two-track the whole way and not much traffic when I rode it. February is best. You can ride all the way to the mine and even beyond it appears, but I turned around at the big mine area and rode back to where I parked my truck.
