Weekend Warrior Summary: high! just heard about this trail last week and was blown away with trails. there is nothing which could be considered "near death", but, plenty of technical stuff for the true racer type and plenty of fun stuff for the beginner.
the trail are not marked (and speaking with the construction and park crew) and never will be. SOOOO, you might find it difficult navigating the 11 miles of trails. once you go through the entrance gate, the trails split immediately. either way is a good option. the left trail might be considered more difficult with sharper drops and bigger rocks. but, after doing it once, the second time should be easier.
this is pretty much virginal desert with large saguaro and ocotillo spread over the entire trail system. there are alos a few washes you will be riding over with loose sand. beware!
enjoy this gem of tucson! Recommended Route: the easier trails are to the right at the entrance. but all trails are very doable. 11 miles. Other recommended trails in the same area: fantasy island. 50 year trail.

Cross Country Rider Summary: The trails are now well compacted, and there's a new trailhead at the end of Tortolita Road. Please note that this is the only place you can park to access the system. Sweetwater Road on the southern boundary is private property, and parked cars will be towed. You can find more information at
http://www.sdmb.org/Trail-Sweetwater.html and at
http://www.pima.gov/nrpr/trails/sweetwater/index.htm
Recommended Route: Ride everything in each direction. Other recommended trails in the same area: Tucson Mountain Park, which is a few miles away by bike - take Sweetwater Road to Kay T to Camino de Oeste, which has a trailhead at the end.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Finally a trail worth riding in the northwest area of Tucson!!! it's still new and fairly rocky and sandy in a lot of places, but once it has been ridden more it should buff out really nicely. it reminds me of South Mountain in PHX terrain wise.
the "trail" is a bunch of short loops that branch off of and collapse back into each other. they are not signed yet either, so it makes for a real adventure if you're directionally challenged. since it's all a bunch of short loops, it makes it a little difficult to get into a rhythm as well.
it may not be a destination trail like some others in town, but for those of us that live in Marana or west Tucson, it's a lifesaver. definitely a welcomed addition to the Tucson MTB scene.
Thanks to whomever helped build this thing. Recommended Route: head down the singletrack immediately to your right when you go through the gate. then veer right and pay attention. the loops go all over and can be ridden in any direction, so remember the surroundings of where you came from cause you're going to need that information when you make it to the next loop. there is one section of trail still under construction as well, so don't ride yourself off into nowhere when it ends. Other recommended trails in the same area: 50 Year, Star Pass, Tucson Mountain Park
