Cross Country Rider Summary: Great trail. Rolls down hill with no crazy drops. The steep climb is right after the wierd under ground tank think on the left. When you see it go to the middle ring and big sprocket. It caught me off guard and in the wrong gear but I cleaned it the second time.
When you reach the parking lot ride out the other side and take Beverly Cannon back to the main fire road at Pima Cannon.
There are alot a side trails on Beverly But they all seem to end up crossing the fire road.
This is a 30-45min loop.
Great loop. Recommended Route: Pima Cannon parking lot. Go up the fire road to Mormon. Shortly after the start of Mormon look for a trail to the right, the start of Javalina is not marked. The rest of the trail is well marked. Take Javalina to a parking lot. Take Beverly back to the Pima fire road. Other recommended trails in the same area: Mormon-National-Telegragh-Desert-loop
Ridge Line Loop

Cross Country Rider Summary: This trail is my favorite downhill on South Mountain. Its steep and fast at the top with a few good rocks tossed into the trail to get the adrenaline flowing. In case your cheeks weren't tight enough, the trail runs along the side of a ridge, and a fall off your bike just might result in a tumble down a cactus covered hill toward the dry creek at the bottom. Toward the bottom of the hill the trail flattens out some, but some man made steps built into the trail keep things interesting. There is one steep, loose rocky section to hike up, but other than that its all beautiful downhill. Recommended Route: Start at the Pima Canyon entrance and take the dirt road to the top. Head up the hill to the Javalina trailhead (if you can't find it there is a map at the top of the dirt road) Ride this trail downhill to the parking lot at 46th street, then take Beverly Canyon back over the mountain to the Pima Canyon entrance. If you get lost and end up on Baseline road instead of the parking lot, just follow Baseline to 46th street and head toward the mountain.
I've never tried riding up this trail and don't ever plan on it, so my rating reflects the downhill loop with the Pima Canyon dirt road.

Weekend Warrior Summary: This is the funnest fast trail on the mountain. 2 Reasons- easy to get to without much effort, and you can make it as easy/hard as you want- Just add speed. I love this one as an end of the ride trail, then bail out onto the street and ride a 10 minute cool down back to the 48th St trailhead. Can't express to you enough how fun this one is - do it! Recommended Route: down - i'm a lazy b@stard. Met a guy riding up once, he looked in pain. Other recommended trails in the same area: Anything on SoMo if fun. Holbert, National!

, from Flagstaff Summary: A good trail for beginning or ending a loop, also a great trail for somewhat experienced beginners to get a taste of what South Mountain has to offer. As with almost all of the trails here, after a rain things can change dramatically, depending on how much water comes down. Don't think it's the same as it was yesterday. Watch out for the Devil of South Mountain! Clear it and Beer it. PS - Does anyone know of an economically viable way to fill a 100 oz CamelBak with Red Bull and Vodka? Recommended Route: Park at ramadas, take loop one to bottom of Javelina, up Javelina, up mormon loop, down bottom section of national and back down the fire road for a quick fun loop before work. Other recommended trails in the same area: Anything at South Mountain is fun.

, from Laveen, AZ, USA Summary: I like plop's review below... Very true about the technical parts being much more difficult when you're winded. You can always get a workout on this trail. It just depends on how fast ya climb it! I prefer climbing this one. It's a good butt-kicker. As for going down this trail... well the last time I rode it I chased a dude on his Intense 8798797-inch travel downhill bike. MAN I want a downhill bike! He made this trail look like it was a sidewalk! But my hardtail did allright. If ya push yourself too fast on the descent - like, say when you're trying to catch a guy on a badass downhill bike - you can get yourself into some trouble. XC bike riders gotta pick your lines... and if ya try to do some of the sections too fast, you're gonna meet Mr. Rock or Mr. Cliff! No worries. Take it easy on the sphyncter-clenching parts or opt for the uphill climb instead! Recommended Route: If you want lung test, go UP from the 46th St Beverly Canyon parking lot. If you want to get your downhill jollies, go DOWN from the Ridgeline/Mormon Loop intersections. Other recommended trails in the same area: National, Desert Classic, Mormon Loop, Alta, Loops 1 and 2, Ridgeline
