Lots of good climbs. About a total of 3000 feet but unlike a lot of other Tucson trail these are rideable (i.e. not much loose stuff just vertical) You get a real sense of accomplishment when you crest gunsight pass at 6,150 feet and can see all the way to Mexico. The descent towards Green Valley can be rigorous disc brakes would come in handy. The climb through box canyon back to the vehicle isn't as steep as the begining 6 miles but will test your endurance.

Summary:
People who don't enjoy climbing need not apply! If you ride the normal counter clockwise direction you will feel like you spend most of the ride climbing. If you go the other way you will have to walk about the last 1.3 miles to the highest point but the rest makes up for it. Scenery is awesome. Take plenty of water because there are many places to get temporararily lost on short side trails that are not well marked. Note: at one point to complete the loop you MUST climb a fence and follow a road crossing private property. This ride is always an adventure and hardcore riders should try it at least once.

Recommended Route:
Have ridden trail both directions, perfer clockwise on map

Kentucky Camp/Gardner Canyon
