Cross Country Rider Summary: This trail was a great race course at one time. Horses have chewed up the tail a little. With a little trail maintance it could be a fun course again. The course starts a litte rough but the back side is fun. Hope to see more riders back out there Recommended Route: I like to start on the service road at the lower base of the rodeo parking lot. Stay on the road and it will take you to the beging of the trail( about 3/4 of a mile) Trail ends in sand wash near the start of the road Tail has a few splits, stay to the base side of the mountain. The coure is two trails but stay to left (base of the mtn) and ride it counter clockwise Other recommended trails in the same area: Other trails near by are the FINS and the trial behind PIR race track. these two are much more difficult than the oringal Estrella coures

Cross Country Rider Summary: It's been a few years since I've ridden in the Estrellas. The new race loops didn't impress me, so I decided to check out the old race area and see how the years have treated it.
Not well, as it turns out. The original loop is covered in a layer of fine dirt that drags on your tires and turns former E-ticket downhills into a kiddie ride. Other areas are covered in fist-sized hunk of loose rock. The new Pederson Trail is the most poorly planned and miserably executed I've ever seen in Arizona. Planting trail markers along a wash does not a trail make. Plunging a trail straight into a wash is not also wise for building a sustainable trail.
It seems the park staff are doing everything possible to keep bicyclists out and horses in. Recommended Route: My recommended route for Estrella is to immediately turn around, head back out the exit and drive over to South Mountain. Other recommended trails in the same area: South Mounain

, from phoenix az Summary: a good trail for those in the west valley- more difficult, fun, and longer than the white tanks, and not as rocky as trail 100. after a mile or so, there is a rocky uphill that will get you properly warmed up, then a good section of ups and downs to lead you to eagles nest, a short but fairly difficult climb that will give you a pretty good idea of what your cardio limits are. in all, a pretty fun ride, when the horses and rain havent torn it up too much. Recommended Route: from the horse corral, its the only way in Other recommended trails in the same area: pemberton- 15 miles of fun

, from Glendale Summary: At first there is a nice up hill that will get your lungs open and legs flowing. Then after that the trail is fast and open single track Recommended Route: Start at the rodeo arena. Then take the dirt road until the trail turns into single track and then just follow all the way around and youll end up were you started Other recommended trails in the same area: Trail 100
