Cross Country Rider Summary: This trail was a kick in the pants. Very easy to find parking and info from any local bike shop. We decided right off the bat to go East up the stepper section. this was a big mistake the trail climbs really fast and the terrain is very rocky. We made it to the top but honestly it would have been faster to go the other way. We followed the trail to the top and then continued to take Castle Rock Trail to the end which was a lot of fun. I will say this is a pretty technical route. Lots of rocks on the Camp Beale Section!!! Hardtails have fun. Once you get to the end it is worth it. Great views. Recommended Route: Total time from the car was nearly 3 hours up and back.. We got a little lost on the transition from Campe Beale to Castle Rock trail. There are a lot of washed out trails that look similar and they are so damn rocky in that section its hard to see which one is the right path. All in all the Topo map and some UTM skills saved us. There are some service roads that are a little easier to ride and then you can join up with Castle Rock Trail again.
We did this route with a 15mph head wind in sections which added to the difficulty. Climb 1hr. 40Min. Descent 1 hr. 10Min. Other recommended trails in the same area: Sara Park Long course

Cross Country Rider Summary: Not a bad little ride, if you're in the area. I'd hardly classify it as "hardpack the entire way" though. Maybe for Kingman trails it is, but I found most of the climb (going counterclockwise) fairly loose and rocky. That being said, it's a great moderate climb followed by a really nice, fairly smooth decent. Even on a hot day in June, the breezes, which never seem to stop, kept things fairly cool. Watch out for the flora... names like cat's claw, crucifiction thorn, and prickly pear really seem applicable here, meaning... don't fall! Can be done as an OK out and back from town, making it more like 12-15 miles round trip. Non-locals will find the area quite different from their local rides. It's a "stark" beauty that takes a little getting used to. Recommended Route: Counterclockwise worked just fine for me... only 2 or 3 short hike-a-bike sections (10-20 feet or so) due to loose rock on steeper climbs. Nothing terribly technical. Other recommended trails in the same area: The BLM has done a great job improving trails in the area. The Camp Beale trailhead has maps with routes and distances for a few other rides in the area that can be linked to this ride. If anyone tries them, please post your reviews here for the rest of us!

Cross Country Rider Summary: The access to this trail has been changed. There is a new signed parking lot.

This is a nice, moderate high-desert trail with great views of the surrounding mountains. Recommended Route: I rode counter-clockwise on Jan. 17, 2004. The return leg was very loose due to water erosion, and would not be much fun going the other direction.

, from Bullhead City Summary: Great trail. I have always had this one to my self, even on weekends. Hard packed the entire way, very well maintaned. There was some confusion the first time I rode this. The trail forks at the top of the first hill. Going right leads to a dead end and left takes you around the rest of the loop. Is there going to be more trails out here in the future? The only complaint I have on this one is that its not in the mountains. It gets a little hot out here in the summer. Another one worth riding if your in the area. Recommended Route: I park by the sign and ride it counter clockwise. Other recommended trails in the same area: Badger Trail
