Weekend Warrior Summary: I estimated that I have been riding this trail for over six years and in taht six years I have blazed the Ctahedral Rock loop at least 75 times. It is as close to the perfect trail as one can get. I prefer doing the loop counter clockwise. That way you get to drop down the switchbacks to Buddha Beach instead of climb them. The trail has recently added about a mile of singletrack between Buddha Beach and Verde Valley Rd. due to development. For once urban sprawl has an unintended good side effect. Beginners will be challenged by this trail yet still have fun and experts can tear this trail a new one. You never have to grunt to hard and you get plenty of treats on this trail. By treats I mean awesome drops , underpasses, slickrock, woop de do's , jumps and plenty of technical challenges. It will take a week to wipe the smile off of your face when you are done. Recommended Route: Start at Bell Rock and head North on the double track past Bell Rock. Hit the singletrack and drop under 179 to get to Cathedral Rock. Go fast on the slickrock until you hit the switchbacks which will drop you to Buddha Beach on the Oakcreek. Now finish the singletrack until you hit Verde Valley rd for a warmdown ride back to Bell Rock. I like this loop counter clockwise best. Other recommended trails in the same area: Bell Rock to Chicken point. Tough technical climb which means and awesome ride back down. Enjoy the wind and views at Chicken point. Watch out for hikers and pink Jeeps on this one.

Cross Country Rider Summary: A fun ride but a back country experience it is not. Sedona has become a conjested tourist trap. It is suburbia for those with status issues. Seems like every year residential and commercial development on every turn of the trails compromises what could of been the jewel of the west. Sedona should of been designated a national park 30 years ago. Basicly Sedona has been ruined by development. Recommended Route: Stay Home

Cross Country Rider Favorite Trail: Mt Elden Summary: A classic Arizona trail with cactus-lined singletrack, slickrock, un-peddlable switchbacks, and remember-back-when-you-first-learned-to-ride-kind-exhillerating whoops-dee-doos. Pay for the pass and park at the Bell Rock trailhead park just north of the Circle-K, well south of the "Y", then work your way north along Bell Rock trail, cut under the 179 highway, then follow your nose north and west along the eastern side of Cathedral Rock. Note - this is not the first place you ever want to ride with SPD clip-in pedals! Be sure to take an extra pair of shorts for a swim in the creek (...or go Navaho with the hipppies at Buddah Beach), then work your way over the hill and back around past Buddah Beach for an out and Back return. If you live in or visit Arizona, don't miss this ride.

, from San Diego Summary: SICK! Very fun and dare I say, spiritual ride. This is the ride you want to get horked for. Start early to avoid tourist (is that possible in Sedona?). In any evnet, I highly recommend this ride to get the "jist" of Sedona riding. TRuly killer wehn you are riding along the ridge. Get slime tubes b/f you even begin to avoid heartache. The crappy part is riding on the rode in the end. Recommended Route: Do the loop from the Circle K, under bridge, Buddha Beach end on Valle Verde

, from Batoland Summary: The Broken Arrow trail gets all the hype, but if your stoked to be in Sedona the Cathedral trail is everything you've been looking for. I took my wife, a novice biker, on Templeton, and while she had to walk a few sections she completed it and had fun. The trail has enough technical sections and scenery to please just about any biker. Templeton rolls along for a mile or two, then you find yourself riding alongside of Cathedral Rock and looking out across the valley, nestled in slickrock. flowers and cactus. At least a mile of Bike Magazine glossy dream trail. Then it drops quickly through a series of switchbacks to Oak Creek. What's cool is that, in a quarter mile, you seem to leave behind sun-baked redrock and cactus in favor of the tinkling sounds of the shady Oak Creek and its whispering leaves overhead. Follow the trail for another quarter mile and you'll see Buddha Beach across the Creek; zen-style rockpiles and a great place to cool off and relax. This trail has something for the whole family. I recommend doing an out-and-back so you can see the scenery twice from different angles. We did it in April, but it must be a bear when it gets hot. Hook this up with the Broken Arrow and you'll be stoked! Recommended Route: Broken Arrow to Little Horse to Templeton down to Buddha Other recommended trails in the same area: Thunder Mountain-Teacup, Huckaby
