Monolith Garden Loop
1 reviews
 2 of 5

Fast hard-packed trail with some ups and downs but no serious climbs. See the city’s website for map. The northern network of trails are the Cook Canyon Loop Trails and the large loop to the south is the Monolith Garden Loop. The Camp Beal Loop Trail connects by going under the highway. A variety of different loops are possible. Staying in the Cook Canyon Trail area loops of 1-3 miles are possible. If you add the Monolith Garden Loop it will total about 6 miles. The maze of towering rock formations in this area must have reminded someone of the heads on Easter Island which are also named Monolith Garden.

Two possible trailheads both off of highway 93 just west of I 40. Metwell Drive is a half-mile from the interstate on the south side of the road. A mile farther also on the south side is another trailhead visible from the highway.

Summary:
Fun and scenic ride, mostly singletrack. Not rocky like most of the rides in the area.

Recommended Route:
We did the Camp Beal Loop and then the Cook Canyon Loop Trails to the Monolith Garden Loop which we did Counterclockwise. Several fast smooth downhill sections on Monolith. It took about 2.75 hours. Camp Beal is a little rocky and has challenging climbs in comparison to the trail system on the south side of 93.
