Three loops ranging from about 2-6 miles. After short and bumpy very easy climb of about a half a mile trail becomes fast and rolling. This trail is used as a race course and is one-way, watch for horse's and hiker's.
Summary: You have a couple climbs that are somewhat rocky to reach the first tech section which will give most people a good challenge. Once you get out of that you have a nice, fast section which will bring you to the second technical section at the back of the park which features a nice switchback climb and a somewhat technical decent. All the way back is nice and fast with some fun sections.
Recommended Route: Do the entire course. If you don't do both of the technical sections, this trail isn't much and you can find better stuff around.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Estrella Competitive Track is the closest trail.

Summary: I've been riding this track daily for some time, now. I find it to be a decent workout with some good short uphills and some technical sections that really aren't all that once you get used to them. Don't get me wrong, there is a learning curve to handling them, but once you get the hang of them, only your own foolishness is going to lead you astray. As it is labeled by the park as a "competitive track" and not a trail, it really isnt' meant for casual riding. One can ride elsewhere in the park on trails labeled for bikes for leisurely travel. You have to be in fairly good shape to tackle this one, so I wouldn't really attempt it as a first time off-road adventure. Navigation is fairly simple on this one-way track with signage at nearly every intersection. A left decision will lead you to the next intersection. A right decision will lead you back to the parking lot.
Recommended Route: I usually do the technical section when I come to that decision and then stay left for the saddle/switchback section for a good uphill challenge. It may seem impossible and long the first few times you do it, but c'mon are you going to let that thing continue to beat you, or are you going to beat it? Stay in your saddle as you climb and try not to put your foot down as you tackle those switchbacks. The first climb is the longest and you get a little break between switchback 1 and 2. Stay outside toward the rock on switchback 2, make a quick right, and you've got yourself into position for the most difficult of the switchbacks, #3. You reserved some energy for #3, didn't you? Get enough speed going to make that tight left and then climb just a little bit more and you've made it atop the saddle. Take a break, you've earned it. The back side of the mountain offers some technical maneuvering with a couple of drops and mostly brake control type stuff. It gives you a chance to catch your breath and ready yourself for your trek back toward the parking lot. Around 6 miles total.

Summary: Regarding the "Fags R Us" comment, I did ride upon a pair of likewise gendered lovers during a mid-week ride. But they were both female! What a find... (unfortunately, they weren't vixens) Anyway, this trail (the technical part included) isn't too bad. When I first moved here from Illinois, it was a killer; but then again, when I first moved here everything was a killer. It's completely rideable - even for me - and that says a lot. If you are a novice, you may want to forgo the technical section, and definately wear a helmet! Overall not a bad trail and will cost a little lung getting up the switchback - up, up, up - trail. I give it three stars because, although it is fun to ride, it's a bit short.
Recommended Route: Park your car immediately inside the park entrance and ride to the bike trail. It will add about seven miles to your ride, and allow you a warm-up.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Too many to mention.

Summary: The technical loop has some tight-cornering, quick up and down rocky sections, starts out with an uneventful gradual climb and brings you back to the main trail with a fun, mostly downhill section. Continuing on the main trail after the technical section are some fun steep down-up washes that can be rocky/sandy and somewhat challenging. Pick your line with care going into some of these washes. Also, keep a lookout for the big rattlers here, I nearly ran one over going through a wash, and ticked it off to say the least. My riding partner a few seconds behind was not pleased to see a coiled and rattling snake right in her line. After finishing the 1st marked technical loop, stay left and you will come to what looks like the NW "corner" of the park where trails fork to the right or continues straight. Go straight to where about 5 long switchbacks climb up the hill (a leg-burner for sure) The descent and loop back to the main trail has some technical terrain, obstacles, sharp turns, 1 to 1/1/2 foot drops. The rest of the trail back to the parking lot is a wide, fast, slightly down-hill romp. Step on the gas, if you have any left, and pull the high G's around the corners you shredmeister you!
Recommended Route: Trail is very well marked. Like the others have said, go left & take the technical loop. The newer section opened up on North side of park adds variety and difficulty to this otherwise beginner-level trail. Twice around is a good workout.

Summary: Be careful of some of the wash crossings as they are poorly maintained and quite rocky. Novices may want to consider walking them down (the last novice I took cracked a rib in a spectacular wreck). The second 'loop' back to the lot is a great deal of fun with a slight descent that keeps the workload down. Beginners will have some difficulty with the sand in washes - but you can easily float across all sandy sections. Just remember to keep up the speed and stick to a straight line to the other side.
Recommended Route: All Loops
