Weekend Warrior Summary: Just moved to Yuma, this is a great trail. Lots of endurance is needed but it is well worth it on the downhill portions. Lots of loose rocks on the trail and can be somewhat technical at times. This trail is a great workout and it will be a regular ride for me.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Be ready to climb. I did not know where to enter this trail, so I scouted around and found a strip of single track north west of the tire disposal yard about a half mile up the canal road. I think I started the trail backwards. ALOT of elevation changes. there wasn't a flat spot anywhere. If your out of shape (like me), or pretty new to mtb/climbing, stay on the loop to the southeast. Don't get me wrong, it's fun! Probably the most technical riding in the Yuma area. Just don't bite off more than you can chew. Before I knew it I was on 7 miles and severely bonked. Take water, extra fuel, and rest often. Recommended Route: Not sure yet. Just go prepared and you'll be fine. Other recommended trails in the same area: jeep trails in the S/N Lagunas near the 8. Get a pass and cruise into Barry Goldwater Range.

Cross Country Rider Summary: I was dubiuos of this ride, I didn't think I would find much in Yuma. I was wrong. My Christmas Day ride was great. I am a fairly strong rider and after 3 hours of riding in the area I was beat. I rode 20+ miles with 90% of it on single track. Not too much technical, but if you keep the pace moving it is a great ride. Recommended Route: I rode South out of the first gravel pit and did a loop that brought me back to the parking area.

, from Yuma, AZ Summary: This is some tight twitchy single track with a few extended climbs. A great trail for intermidiate to advanced riders looking for a good endurance workout. Shorter loops are there for beginners. There are two short tough climbs, one of them is a bit hard to find off on a new trail. Take some water and plan on spending the day here. There are new trails popping up all the time. This could prove to be a great race course and easily one the most extreme in AZ. Recommended Route: South out towards the gravel pit, then start working north to find the best single track. There are new trails being built all the time, so take some water and refrence Sugar Loaf Mtn, and ride all day. There is 20-25 miles of good trail (85% single track).

Ridden Trail: Once a week

, from Yuma, AZ Summary: This is a fun ride which starts out in a challenging wash and ends up on some nice singletrack. The initial portion, being in a wash bottom, is tough going due to the sand, gravel, and large rocks. It is very soft when it's dry. The singletrack coming back is well groomed, fast, and fun. It starts out rolling then turns a little steep by the end. Be careful on the descents as there are lots of cactus around and some sketchy turns. Recommended Route: Alternate Ride: Rather than turn north on the power line road, follow the wash that leads east out of the gravel pit. This will take you past the steam shovel, the "8 Ball" mining claim, and up to the eastern ridge road. Once on that road, ride south over two climbs then take the well-traveled singletrack which shoots off to the right. This will bring you down to a small wash which leads you to the north canal road about a mile from where you started. Other recommended trails in the same area: Numerous variations around Sugarloaf area, mostly power line roads. Also area around Telegraph Pass.
