Cross Country Rider Summary: Actually Submarine Rock is part of the Broken Arrow Trail. Submarine Rock is a slick rock formation that inspired Walt Disney to design the Nautilus in "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." The picture here should be of the slick rock formation. See the description for Broken Arrow trail. (The trail is named after the movie "Broken Arrow" starring Jimmy Stewart about Geronimo and the US mail delivery in the Southwest, good movie actually.
Recommended Route: Park at Absolute Bikes in the Village of Oak Creek, they have a big parking lot and a free map that's approved by the forest service. Ride from the shop to Bell Rock Pathway. Then ride Llama to Little Horse up to Chicken Point and down on Broken Arrow. You will see a sign that directs you to Submarine Rock. You can also park at the Broken Arrow trailhead and ride on the single track or jeep road to the Submarine Rock turn off. Other recommended trails in the same area: It's easy to get lost in this area. There are a number of social trails that lead nowhere and illegally built trails. Make sure you don't accidently ride into Wilderness areas as you could get a $300 ticket.

Cross Country Rider Summary: I agree with comments below, Developers are ruining Sedona...go there before there's a Golf Course everywhere!!..What's wrong with the local authority?
I too, would like a house right by the rocks, THAT'S EXACTLY why there should be a law banning the development...it's a shame...
BUT since we are rating the trail..This is the most beautiful trail I rode in Sedona..it's technical, has climbs, fast tracks, woods, slick rock, incredible views...
I rode in December so it was cold...30's.. I did it with my girlfriend, so we just walked the difficult parts...after Chicken Point there's an incredible view spot, make sure to be there by Sunset
..if you only have time to ride one trail in Sedona, this is the one!!
It's not so difficult as it is tricky..so it helps if you get to ride it more than once..best of luck and enjoy!!
BTW not too many Pink Jeeps in December.. Recommended Route: Follow what Fat Tire Guide says Other recommended trails in the same area: All those in the Fat Tire Guide

Cross Country Rider Summary: fun ride but as most everywhere in Sedona you just cant get away from tourist, pink jeeps, construction noise, residential and resort development. Have lived in the area for the past twenty years and in comparison to the 1980's Sedona sucks and has basicly been ruined if you like to bike in the back country and have a non urban experience. But the trail is fun and the views are still awesome. Too bad you have to hike into wilderness areas without bike to have any sense of solitude. For these issues I would rate all sedona trail a two or three these days. Only ride Sedona trails when the Flag trails are too muddy and snowy.

, from Orange County Summary: Most of the good trails in Sedona are closed due to fire danger. We made a special trip there for Memorial weekend and found out that Sedona's flagship rides were all closed as of 5/22/02. Call ahead to see if they get any rain before you go--very disappointing. By the way, all of Flagstaff's rides are closed too.
