Cross Country Rider Summary: I've never had a bad time on South Mountain. I come down from Colorqado for a week or two each March. I always spend three or four days in this park. I really cannot add to anything already posted here, so I juast have to add my rating. If you get a chance, do it! Recommended Route: see above Other recommended trails in the same area: Haws road. McDowell Mnt, just for kicks. There was a trail south of Queen Creek, that had almost 0 climbing, but was almost 25 miles long and 90% 1-trtack. Can't remember the name, but it was sweet! All smoth roling single track. FAST and fun. Not a tech section but the length and trail made up for that. Good to do at the end of your trip, when your legs are fried.

Cross Country Rider Summary: This is one sweet mountain. Very technical and very fast on the way down. I'm a midwestern cross country single track rider and this terrain was like being on another planet. I had the opportunity to follow the line of a couple of locals and that really helped me to conquer obstacles I would otherwise not even have attempted. THANKS LUIS AND MICHAEL, two smooth riders! Like some of the other reviews point out it can get busy but the locals are soo cool. Thanks Sandy you're a saint. Other recommended trails in the same area: McDowell Mountain Park, hit it and don't let up. This place is designed for speed.

Cross Country Rider Summary: This trail will test the best of us. I was unable to ride down telegraph pass and from the look of it, that is for the best. This is a long ride and the haul back on desert classic is a bit of a zoner at the end of a hot day. It was 105 degrees when we rode it last. We thankfully found water at the bottom of Telegraph Pass or we would have been hurting on the way back. If you like to climb the rocks, National will be a better climb but Mormon offers a stiff climb seperated into two sections that are quite challenging to the legs and lungs as well. My favorite part of this trail is after Bueno Vista and before Telegraph. This is a challenging section and I went over the top when the trail caught me unaware. It can easily be linked with any of the Guadalupe entrance lower rides. We love the East Loop to West Loop to Mormon to National to Desert Classic route. East Loop offers a great lung-burning climb as a warm up. Take PLENTY of water. Recommended Route: East loop to West loop to Mormon to Dessert Classic Other recommended trails in the same area: East loop to Javelina to Ridge Line to Beverly Canyon to Dessert Classic.

, from Phoenix Summary: My fiance and I bought a house at the Pointe to ride these trails! We are transplants from Philadelphia where we road quite a bit at Wiss (go Philly!). This loop is long challenging and has it all. There are difficult short climbs, meandering technical climbs, fun fast down hills, super technical down hills, long flatish sections where you can get you legs spinning! There are two short sections which I so far cannot get up both on national. One at a waterfall and the second coming into Buena Vista. The rest of it is doable. Beware though, Telegraph Pass is ridable, but it is a broken wrist/forearm waiting to happen! Unless you have "Mad Handles" or are "Mad Stupid"(me) then sections of it are best walked IMNSHO. Javalina all by itself is a work out but throw it in with the rest of this stuff and damn!! In a dozen years on a mountain bike this trail is near the top for fun factor and challange factor! Recommended Route: Javalina to Mormon to National to Telegraph Pass To Dessert Classic Other recommended trails in the same area: Pass Mountain, Estrella Mountain, The Mcdowells

, from south bend, indiana Summary: COnsidering that there os no terain like it in the midwest it was a blast. YOu have to watch yourself constantly because of teh loose stuff and then the rocks and suck things coming up in the trail.. These are good ways to go down and when you do it is hard. but it is so much fun i go every year. (itis cheaper to ship your own bike out there then to rent one for those tourists. Recommended Route: Mormon loop or national trail. Other recommended trails in the same area: papago park is a good one for beginers, and so are some of teh rails at south mountain.
