Ridden Trail: Every few months

, from Cottonwood AZ Summary: Hey, the climb toward the start of this trail will make you cough up your breakfast if your not careful. after that the trail is a twisting scenic adventure along the side of a cliffed mountainside. It gets tech in a couple of spots going down the trail. the harrowing stairs that Cosmic Ray talks about have been worked on and are easier to ride than were last year. I still consider this at least an intermediate on the skill level. Fun ride but your rythmn will be interrupted by a creek crossing, th only downside to a great ride. Recommended Route: Park in the uptown area and ride up scnebly hill rd to the trailhead Other recommended trails in the same area: Jim Thompson, Secret Trails

, from Yucaipa, CA Summary: Great trail. Had a blast going over the drop offs. Keep your eyes on the trail in front of you or you'll go over like my bro did on his rented Marin. He actually rode down a section that I walked down, and ended up over the edge into a sticker bush about a 5 foot drop from the trail. He ripped the seat as it went up is crack and screwed up the rear derailer and shifter. The bike shop (Mountain Bike Heaven) charged him $10 to fix the derailer. Funny though, because they are the ones who suggested this trail to us. Recommended Route: Take it from Schnebly Rd. go to the parking lot on your left and follow the signs. A lot of hikers at first, so watch out for them. All the trails in Sedona are well marked. Pick up a map from one of the local bike shops and keep it with you. Other recommended trails in the same area: We tried some trails on top of Schnebly Rd., but could not find the ones we wanted, so we took the bikes out and rode down the rode to the Huckaby trail head. Our dad drove the truck back down, but I don't reccomend doing this because Schnebly Rd. is bumpy as hell.

, from Albq, NM Summary: an excellent single track trail with great overlooks but only average by sedona's elevated standards. also, this trail seems to get quite a bit of hikers. on a hot day the river crossing at the bottom of the trail is a great point to cool off before either the climb back, or, better yet cross over hw89a and come back up the jim thompson trail - its every bit as good as huckaby. Recommended Route: combine with jim thompson trail for a semi loop as you'll need to close the last few miles on jordan road. Other recommended trails in the same area: pass on the mtb course its not the best riding in this area. however, the cockscomb area nearby is killer. road 9875, the pipeline road, is some of the best jeep road i've ever ridden. if you didn't seem them on the trail you'd never believe they can clear some of this terrain. also, sub rock and the surrounding chicken and broken arrow rides are must dos while in sedona. bring lots of water and lube as the fine red sand will cause you to need to clean your drive train often.

, from Norwalk, CT Summary: If you are visiting Sedona for just a day or two, you've got to squeeze this ride in. It's different and that's just part of the fun. If you are doing it for the first time, for Pete's sake, ride in control or bring a parachutte :-) I had a blast - the staircase is actually easier than the preceding two drop-offs that point you stright over the edge...brrr- it's a high. Do it. Recommended Route: Do it as an in and out (either way) Other recommended trails in the same area: the chicken point one and Cathedral rock trail - Yah, baby. Sedona riding is awesome...

, from SB, CA Summary: Really fun trail, but so are most every trail in Sedona. The switchbacks on the way up can be tricky, but fun. I don't like the river crossing to get to Midgely bridge. The stair case is a blast though. The only problem with the trail is it isn't long enough! Recommended Route: Same as above Other recommended trails in the same area: Broken Arrow, secret trails, Midgley bridge, House Mountain
