Ridden Trail: Once a week

Cross Country Rider Summary: I ride these trails more than once a week, as the Crevasse Moraine trailhead is about 1 mile from my house. They have been DRASTICALLY improved since the last review, and there are quite a few miles of really fun singletrack on the Crev-Mo side now. The trails on the Keppler side have also been improved with a much more regular trail maintenance schedule.
Navigation is still a problem for the uninitiated though, as mapping isn't that great, and what's there covers mainly just the big maze of ski trails. Spend some time exploring, or go with a local, as for right now that's really the only guaranteed way to find all the fun stuff.
Terrain is relatively smooth, almost no rocks. Where there are roots, they can become numerous and big enough to present some technical challenge. most of the singletrack is smooth and fast with tight switchbacks on the Crev-Mo side. Recommended Route: Find the "Long Lake Connector Trail". Nearly all the singletrack can be had from this one main trail that connects Keppler and Crev-Mo. There's really no way to "guide" you through the ski trails without actually being there with you. There're just too many turns. Other recommended trails in the same area: Hatcher Pass if you want to ride some rocks. Trails there are currently out and back, but worth it. If it's been dry for a few days, and it's not moose season, the four wheeler and jeep trails in and east of Sutton on the Glenn Highway are worth exploring as well.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Very nice singletrack, but the bike trails seem like they have been neglected a bit since they were built. I just moved here from Florida and our "official" trails are marked and maintained quite well. I don't know if it's an Alaska thing or perhaps matsu borough doesn't have enough funding for the parks. A significant trail map and markers would be quite helpful.
By all means don't let my summary stop you. Go ride the trail, get lost and have a great time. After all, finding your way out is the best way to get to know a trail (its not hard at all to figure it out). Recommended Route: Easiest entrance to singletrack is from the Kepler Bradley park entrance off the Glenn Highway, about a 1/2 mile from the Parks Highway. You can enter from Crevasse Moraine on Palmer-Wasilla highway. but I only suggest this if you intend to warm yourself up with 3-5 miles of cross country climbing and descending. Other recommended trails in the same area: still looking
