Mineral Creek Canyon

 4 of 5

The trail is actually a two lane gravel road leading to the back of the canyon. Approximately 5 1/2 miles back a gate limits vehicle access and the road becomes much narrower turning more into single track. This section of trail goes for about 1 mile terminating at the ruins of an old stampmill. This mill was built for gold mining operations but was never used. Old rusted equipment and machinery litter the area. The trip consists of many small hills during the gradual ascent into the back of the canyon. Numerous waterfalls and glaciers are visable on a clear day making it quite beautiful. One needs to watch out for cars and black bears during the ride. Sunny days bring out more automobile traffic which can get in your way while you decend back out of the canyon hitting speeds around 30 mph if you really crank on it.
