Cross Country Rider Summary: Could possibly be one of the best mountain bike areas in a major metropolitan area. All levels can love this place. BEWARE OF BEARS AND MOOSE!!!
The lower section in BLM lands are great for speed and the hillside will test you nards going up as well as down. Along with Kincaid Park in the west, these trails make me proud to be from Anchorage. Recommended Route: I like to start at Glen alps trail head in Chugach State Park and follow powerline down to Bicentenniel. Very fast and dangerous.

, from Anchorage,AK Summary: Nice trails, can be wet, but this is Alaska. Keep your eyes pealed for bears though, as there are plenty within the park. It is not a difficult riding area, but there some technical sections which can be alot of fun. Recommended Route: Just about anywhere. I prefer Rovers Run and then see how far I can make it up the mountains. Other recommended trails in the same area: Resurection Pass, Johnson Pass, Kincaid Park

, from Anchorage, Ak Summary: I start at the parking lot for Hillside Park on Abbott Loop Rd. and head N. on the main lit trail to Double Bubble for some ups and downs then head to Spencers Loop, which is a fight to the top then at the end you will be rewarded with Rovers Run my FAVORITE which is a rooty single track, watch for animals. This trail runs along the river, which is wonderful when it dry and even better and more challenging when it is wet. At the end of this run I hook up with the Tour of Anchorage and Jr. Nordic Trail. These last two trails are well groomed and shared with bikers, horses, runners or walkers, and dogs. There are several options on trails and easy to get turned around or lost so be careful or go with someone who knows the trail. The trail is for beginners to advanced. Hang on...because you are in for a wild ride. Recommended Route: Park at the parking lot on Abbot Loop Rd. pick a direction and start peddling. You can go for major hills or a balance of ups and downs. Other recommended trails in the same area: Kincaid Park

, from Anchorage, AK Summary: Another great ride minutes from my back door. The trails by the river are twisty, rock strewn, rutted and full of roots. When it rains, it does not drain very well, and sometimes in the fall it is the gooeist mess in the world. But when it is dry, it is a dream. Because of the wetness factor, only four tires... Recommended Route: same as above.
