When you leave the lot follow the main road to the right going up the hill. Turn right off of the side walk down to a 1/2 mile section of single track that goes left along the creek. When you emerge from the woods, cross the big bridge and turn right and go until you cross another small bridge. Take the second trail on the right, go 1 tenth of a mile and take the second left. Its 1 mile of fire road till you get to the slave cemetary. (just keep taking rights) Then its iron road (all these dirt roads are civil war era) for 1.5 miles take a right to head up slave quarters road for 3/4 mile and finish the loop. Or turn left and ride out to the huge furnace used to create half of the South's amo and artillery in the Civil War. you can continue past the furnace and approach where you parked from the opposite side of the park. Many combinations you can ride, a good place for beginers or wives to go with you. And if you live on this end of town its closer than oak mountain. A season pass is $24. Day passes are $2 There is NO bike traffic out there, and only the occasional hiker. I think i am the only one that knows about it. I created a trail map and posted it on my website. http://www.randywebbdesign.com/trail1.html

Summary:
The absence of singletrack is NO MORE. BUMP started what will be a 12-13 mile rocky, twisty and fast roller coaster on 11/14/09. It's rideable now and there will be more coming soon.

Summary:
This trail is all fire road. To be exact it is a well maintained ATV trail. not necessarily a bad thing, but not exactly single track. It is smooth as a road should be, but has fast sections to keep you on your toes. The multiple creek meeting make for perfect swimming holes. If you are in town and have nothing better to do, ride this trail. But, I would not plan a vacation around it

Recommended Route:
go across the bridge and down the creek, turn right up the road at the end of the creek trail.
