Summary:
Met up with local whitewater kayaker Charlie Mix in Jacksonville AL., who told me of a trail that cruised through an old airplane body nearby. I had to check this out, so we headed for the trailhead, we parked just off the highway in a gravel pull-off and peddled up the old logging roads. Great trail, still some old trail markers pointing the way as of 6/2008. Uphill out the ying-yang to start with, then either a steep & fast descent down a wide road, or singletrack your way down which takes a while, but is really fun. Also you can ride down the slanted face of the mining pits for a rush!

Recommended Route:
Park off the highway, take gravel roads untill you see the singletrack going uphill on your right. Follow trail marking arrows untill red in the face!

Summary:
This trail is technical steady climbing most of the way. It is not a long trail but definitely a challenge. It has some really fun downhill sections. One in particular goes right down the ridgeline. Another cool feature of this trail is an old airplane hull that you ride through! A great trail in any weather.

Recommended Route:
Clockwise

Summary:
my favorite trail in the state, because oak mtn is just too crowded. parts are like Tsali in NC and it's a challenge to ride twice through. also, killer on a full moon. i've ridden this trail for 6 years now and never have i seen more than 2 other riders.

Recommended Route:
definately clockwise or you can become fodder for someone screeming downhill...like me!
