DeSoto State Park

Best side of loop is the north side (CCC Quarry Trail). Some highlights include riding slick rock along the edge of an old CCC quarry, winding your way through huge boulders, sailing along smooth single track, and honing your skills through several rock gardens. The south side (Campground Trail) is mostly single track. Both sides have their share of roots, but not too many.

Best direction is to start at the country store heading west on southern trail (Campground Trail). It’s a slight uphill, but worth it when you come back on the northern side (CCC Quarry Trail). Once you cross the road the Campground trail intersects the CCC Quarry Trail, go right and follow it back to the country store.

Great beginners ride: Start at the Lost Falls Trailhead and ride the southern trail (Campground Trail) to the country store. It''s almost all down hill. To get the trail head, don’t turn into the country store parking lot. Continue on the road you turned onto to get to the country store, and go past the campground. You’ll see a gravel patch over a mile down the road

Maps are available in the country store.

BUMP has done a great job of making the loop better. If you see them, stop and thank them.

Don’t forget to check out all the waterfalls there. Only downside is that access to them is on hiking only trails.

Summary:
Tons of new additions by local riders (NOT BUMP) to trail system for over 11 miles of Mountain Bike Trails. You have the Original Quarry Trail and Camground Trail which are both technical and are either tough climbs or fast downhill dependant upon your direction. There is a Family Trail which is not technical and flows great. The Knotty Pine Trail is mostly technical with a short easy section. Primitive Campground to Old Park Entrance section is abouta quarter technical and remaing has a great flow to it. The Neverland Trial has it all: climbs, downhills, bridges, creek crossings and has a really good flow. Be aware Hiking only trails.

Recommended Route:
Park at Lost Falls Trail Head Parking Lot (upper area). Start on the Neverland Trail, the drop off the Knotty Pine Trail. Cross old park entrance and climb up the Primitive Campground side. Straight across road then take left at first intersection know as the BIKE stump. Stay on this trail down to the Quarry and on to the Country Store Parking Lot. Climb up past the RV campground back up to the upper parking lot. Cross Road and go back up to the BIKE stump turn right then immediately right again onto the Family Trail, which will bring you back to the upper parking lot.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Racoon Mountain- Chattanooga, Guntersville State Park

Summary:
I found this trail to be short and technical. There a couple of fun rocky downhills, but overall it is nothing special.

Recommended Route:
From the country store go clockwise.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Iron legs, Gene's loop.

Summary:
I'm not real sure who "BUMP" is, but I'm from Fort Payne and I can tell you that it's not BUMP who u should thank for keeping this trail up to par, but you should thank the locals. We're the ones who have done most of the work. Visit Little River Cycle and Outdoors and you'll find most of the people who keep that trail up.

Summary:
This trail has a little something for everyone. If you go clockwise, you will gradually climb for about 1.5 miles then you will start a very fast and technical downhill for the next 2 miles.
If you go counter clock wise the climbs are difficult and rocky but you are rewarded with fast, flowing singletrack downhill.
There is a cycling store in town now if you need directions are supplies.
