Summary:
What a great trail. It has a little bit of everything along the way. If you start at the South Trailhead going clockwise it is about a 1/4 mile on asphalt until you bear right onto the single track head down Seven Bridges section for several miles of nice flowing single track. Plenty of roots and rocks to make it fun if you like that sort of thing. Then onto Camp Road which is a dirt road for about 1.5 miles then left back onto single track in Garretts Gulch. This is uphill for a bit then a long fast, fun decent for about a quater mile or so. Then you enter the Rock Garden where the Gnomes live. This is a moderate section of baby head type rocks for a 1/2 mile or so. At this point you enter the section called the Chimney's. This is still single track with some old cabins that used to be long ago with ony the chimneys remaining. It takes you through tight turns where roots grab your tires and trees grab your handle bars. From there you hang a right onto the Red Road section. This section is for all of you who like to test you uphill endurance. It is about 2 miles of serious uphill as you travel on the fire road to the top. Once there you head down to the BUMP Trail section, where you will find the most technical part of the whole trail, appropriately named Blood Rock. Most are content to walk there bikes down this section of large rocks and tight turn towards the bottom of the section. The Blood Rock section is only about 40 yards or so but not for the faint at heart. Once beyond it you can fly. The run is about 1.5 miles of downhill. Rocks will shred your tires if not negotiated on a good line in this section. This again is somewhat technical on the descent. Once at the bottom you cross onto a covered bridge at the bottom of Johnsons Mountain. This is roughly 2 miles of climbs and descents until you get to Foreplay. This section is about 1/2 mile of nice flowing single track onto Mr Toads section which is another mile of free flowing single track back to the South Trailhead for the end of the loop. It is about 16.3 miles total.

Recommended Route:
I prefer clockwise on the loop because of going down Blood Rock and beyond. Some who realy like to fly can go counter clockwise and get some unbelievable air going down the Red Road section. You cross 7 man made creek crossing the essentially make a ramp coming out, especially when you are bombing at 25mph or better.

The Trussville Sports Complex has a nice trail maintained by BUMP.

Summary:
An enlongated loop around a mountain ridge. A mix of nice single track and some fast fire roads. This is the first time riding this trail; it was reccommended and I rode it as I was traveling through the area. Definitely bring your 2.1 or larger tires. I got two pinch flats with my 1.95s on the fast single track downhill sections. I even had 45+ pounds of pressure in my tires.

One negative is that bicyclist are only allowed on the red trail. This place would be even better if shortened loops could be made out of the numerous trails and area.

Recommended Route:
Either direction is good, though I preferred the CW direction because one can warm-up with the steady fire road climb and flatten out on the fire road and then bomb the single track. Props to the B.U.M.P group for nicely designed trails. They are fun and drain well. It had rained here 2 days ago and hardly any standing water. Also, thanks to David on the single speed for the ride back to the trail head after the second pinch flat.

Summary:
This trail is very well maintained and a lot of fun. All climbs are do-able for riders except maybe blood rock but with a little practice it should be. The first day I rode this trail, I lost a bolt in my chainstay and was lucky enough to be a short walk to the road. I caught a ride from a ranger who was extremely nice and even made a call to find out where the local bike shop was. The park also has a BMX track that was tempting but didnt try. The trail itself is nice tight, twisty singletrack for about 75% of the time with a few miles being on fire roads.

Recommended Route:
I only had time to ride this trail 1.5 times due to my bolt incident. So i only got to try it out CCW from the north trailhead. The only problem I had is when I came out to the road after seven bridges I had a hard time trying to find where the trail started again. You have to ride up the road about 1 mile and on the left by the picnic areas. I have to thank cahaba cycles which is located close to the park who got me back to riding in no time.

Summary:
I ride this trail a lot. A good mix of climbs, technical spots, and winding dirt ribbons that leaves you worn out when done. Good scenery both in winter and summer. This trail has something for everyone, even the youngest of aspiring trail addicts.

Recommended Route:
Depending on where you start, you'll have something different. Try starting from each trailhead and go in different directions.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Trussville, Lake Lurleen.
