Summary:
These trails are only 6 miles from my house so travel time is short to get riding.I have ridden these trails at least a dozen times. You can certainly get a mix of singletrack, short climbs and some straightaway for a good cardio workout.I rarely see anyone else on the trails. They are not the most difficult or technical trails but there is alot of interlinking of trails on the east side of Cypresswood and plenty of sandy areas to burn those legs. The trail is very clean and close to major roads so it deserves a looking into.

Recommended Route:
No recomended route as everyone likes to explore the trail in their own
way.I drop in off of Cypresswood and go South to one of the trailheads but there are many dropins along the creek area.

Summary:
I was looking for somewhere to ride close to home and found this little gem. The map is wrong on this site so follow the written directions they will put you right on it. This is a well put together trail with challenges for most riders. There is also the opportunity to extend your ride with connecting trails.

Recommended Route:
It's all good. We rode for about 2.5 hrs down multiple trails. But you can do laps around this trail if you choose.

Summary:
Wow, what a great trail! This is the first time for me to try it, and I am extremely pleased with the experience.

I started at the Cypress Creek YMCA (off of 249) behind their fishing tank. Right off the bat I was worried, because the trail wasn't exactly obvious where to go. But after a little deductive reasoning on directions, it opened up to a great trail! One of the things I liked most were the options it gave the average rider. There is a main trail that follows Cypress Creek and branches off to a few of the connecting gulleys. All along the main trail, there are entrances into the technical sections, full of drops, hard turns, and climbs with tree roots. There are different routes within these technical sections, but they all bring you back to the main trail following the water. I was out for about 2 1/2 hours and don't think I covered the whole trail!
I tried to make my breather/water breaks at a scenic spot so I could snap a shot with my camera phone, I posted them here.
All in all, a great trail. I definitely plan on making this trail a part of my regular routine!

Recommended Route:
Starting at Cypress Creek YMCA and going until Moore Elementary made for quite a challenging ride. There were many more options to take, but that was the one I went with. Be sure to stay tuned, because in the near future, this trail will connect to quite a few others!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
The locals call this trail (MANKO 3) "Cypresswood Improper". My home base trail is the actual Cypresswood Trails ("Cypresswood Proper" I guess you would call it). Not as lengthy, but a fantastic ride, follows creekside, runs from Kuykendahl Rd. and stops behind Meyer Park. I can't be sure, but I think this trail will eventually CONNECT to Cypresswood Improper.

Also, the Cypress Creek Preserve has a GREAT new trail in the Timberlane Neighborhood in Spring. I set up a post about it on this site, you should definitely check it out!

Ridden Trail:
Once a week

Summary:
I ride these trials about three times a week and it is a nice combination of trails. It is mostly single track in the woods. Some technical short climbs, log crossings, a couple of fast down hills, winding flowing speed runs, and some flat wide sections. The surface is mostly hard pack with some loose patches. There are a couple of area's that are sandy, but none of them are very long. Some area have roots, but nothing to bad. Most technical sections have a easy bypass. This area drains very well after rain, except one area called waterworks (see map). There are many entrances (look at the map). If you get off the trails in some place there are some really nasty thorn bushes. The big loop that we uasally do once a week is about 12 miles, but includes some riding around the HP campus and YMCA. These trails have been around about 10 years. They have been expanded alot in the past few years. We have created a map and is posted on Yahoo groups 'cypresswoodtrailgroup' look under 'files'. We will continue to expand these trails. The name we have used for this trail is Cypresswood Improper. We are planning to connect this trail with Cypresswood and TC Jester.

Recommended Route:
I have always started at Moore grade school. Start at the back of the school by the chain link fence take stay go to the right this will lead you to the bridge at Cypresswood. Go over the bridge go right at the end and drop down the cement (go fast) straight shot through the tall grass follow to the right once past the drop follow trail to left, this will open a (usally dry) holding tank. Go to the left and there is drop through the tank (if wet go around). Up on the other side go right the trail then turns into the woods follow to first right up the hill and go left on the ridge. Out to the next bridge on Cypresswood. cross over the road and follow creek, look for entrance to left, follow trail around and back to the first bridge. That is just the beginning.
