FYI all MTB Riders of MP!!!! There has been a meeting regarding the Master Plan of MP trail system, and It is NOT good at all!! The city has voted to close all MP to Mt. Bikng and running on the trails!! They will designate a fruit loop for roadies and bladers.. What KRAP!!! What the hell is wrong with these City people? They sit on their a$$es and push pens and buttons all day, and have no physical talents such as Mt. Biking!! Anyways, we Mt. Bikers need to fight this!! We need IMBA help as well!! Any attourneys out there that can help fellow riders?? I have been told that the City cannot keep us out of the trails, due to stipulations in a Will that were to be honored when the land was donated by its owners.. Guess we will see what becomes of what lil trails we have.. RIDE ON!!
Summary: I started riding these trails in 1984. I could call out the persons that built most of the original trails. I even drove my VW bug in 1976 on the fire roads prior to any real trails being there. To say the trails are not good now in an injustice. There is a great diversity of trails here. Some you will be able to clear all obstacles, some you will walk momentarily due to whatever reason. Yes when the trails were bandit, there were some great ones, i.e. Rollercoaster, Deadmans (now refferred to as the triangle), Widowmaker and the bluff trail along the bayou. They should all still be open IMO. Erosion is an acceptable by product of use. If you want smooth, protected, handicap accessible trails maybe mountain biking isnt for you. I also support others using the trails for walking, running, walking their dogs with or without a leash. It is a public area and should be shared. If erosion and nature are your concern, have them plant trees on the golf course or softball fields.

Summary: I went here today for the first time and I will definitely be back. This was a great ride that was pretty easy. There are only a couple of parts that are difficult. These trails are pretty crowded, especially on the Yellow trail. The Yellow trail is the easiest trail (besides the Purple) and the only part that I would say is challenging would be a relatively steep descent and then a short climb afterwards, don't slam on your brakes or you won't make it. The Yellow trail is the main trail, so don't fly around corners on it because you will run into other riders. The Blue trail is probably the second easiest trail, then the Orange, then the Red being the hardest. I would reccomend this trail if you are ever in Houston. The Anthills would closely follow behind this trail, but they run by the bayou and that doesn't go to well with me, I'd really hate to fall in.
Recommended Route: I like to start at the first little parking lot on Picnic Dr, go past the big trail sign, onto the gravel trail that runs parallel with the soccer field, then you will see 4 ways to go, just go straight on the Yllow trail, follow it through, finish it, go to the Orange trails for some fun, then to Blue to relax, then go to the Red trails to finish it out, have fun!
Other recommended trails in the same area: The Anthills

Summary: First let me say that I ride trails all over the US and am often stuck in cities looking for somethin resembling a mountain bike trail. Memorial Park has real mountain bike trails. No these are not IMBA epics, but remember you'r in the middle of a large city. That said there are trails for all levels, wide cruisers to black diamond stuff. The erosion lets you work on your techinal skills, and prepare you for when you get a chance to go ride some epics. Only complaint; the place is crowded. It also amazing how well it has been cleaned up after the hurricane.
Recommended Route: Purple- cruiser
yellow- fast flowing st
red and orange- now were having fun

Summary: Trail was in very poor condition. Several loops should not have been open due to some mud holes (I don't think it ever dries up here), but beyond that there are some severe erosion problems.

Summary: I just road the trail system 8_14 and was suprised at the condition of the trail. Right of way was over running the trail, several trees were crossing over the trail, and many suprises such as 2' deep holes in the middle of the trail, and many unsafe erosion problems. All I can say is that the trail is in horrible condition and be on alert for danger when riding.
Recommended Route: All of them to get some mileage in.
