Jack Brooks Park

The trails are mostly all single-track with a lot of short steep hills. Its very winding and off-camber seemes to be the design intended. Watch out for some killer roots and poison ivy. These trails can be ridden by all skill levels but the newbies will find the hills to be pretty hard. Experienced riders will find it technical enough to keep your senses tuned. There are a few steam crossings and bridges are well maintained. Stay off the horse trails, they're marked.

Trail Directions
Take I-45 south to the FM2004 exit (Gulf Greyhound Track). Turn right after the track and follow FM2004 about 3 miles to the park entrance on the right (across the highway from the Hitchcock Elementary Scool). Follow the park road to the "tee" and go left. You'll end up in the parking lot. Most local bike shops have a map of the trail (sort of).

Summary:
Jack Brooks was well maintained, awesome trail. It was very casual with its tricky spots. Will return soon. Wood work was great, had a ton of fun @ PLAYGROUND. Massive snakes on trail/ banana spiders everywhere. Very cool to see nature so up close. Would like to meet the guys who maintain the trail, possibly even get a small (rider funded) race going out there. Great work guys, Im going back saturday AM.

Went out for the first time yesterday, definitely will return! Cool trils, some nice features built in, probably the best workout in Houston in terms of up and down, great job trail stewards!

Summary:
Great trail very diverse tight turns at many places some good ups and downs especially the beginning and hobo run. Thick forest many roots but no rocks or stair steps. One way so no worry of head on collisions. Spiders are harmless but the webs are plentiful in the mornings. Watch for snakes around the creek trails. Great workout and quality work with bridges and wooden structures.

Summary:
First time out at Jack Brooks. Real nice single track with the front being a little tough. Lots of roots and hills. The back has a 'Playground' which is a lot of fun and had to go do it a couple of times. Free park but is a drive way down south.

Recommended Route:
Enter Park off of 2004
At Y turn Left
Trail Map next to entrance
Enter on Left side come back on right

If novice then follow tree line and disc golf to other entrance that is flatter/easier.
