Summary:
It's in GREAT shape, you should head out when you get the chance! The future is not looking good, there's a LOT of clearing going on in that chunk of private land between the two public parts. The public stuff is still nice though.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
I did Timberlane Trails yesterday and (as a novice) was blown away!

Summary:
I used to ride this trail a lot a few years ago, and figured it had been butchered after seeing all of the construction going on, but it isnt! I rode it for the first time in years, and have to say, i actually like it better now. Was a little hard to figure out where to start, but i made do. The routes are also not marked to well, so i made a few loops twice, and got turned around when it was time to leave. I did see a couple of plywood arrows, but i think there needs to be some more of them, and they should be painted orange or something. All in all though, it was a very nice ride, especially since it is so close to me.

Recommended Route:
I parked at the park behind the retirement home. i parked in the lot to the left of the skate park area, because i saw a small cut through into the trees. I then just followed the trail along the bayou, and went behind the baseball fields, where the trail headed back into the trees. from there, i just rode along the trail, somewhat remembering my way around.

Summary:
The Cypresswood trail system is open and is a nice ride. you can make about a 7 1/2 mile loop by starting at Collins Park. The west end of the trails has a figure 8 trail the east end is still good with the bowl section. If you haven'e been here lately come back and try it out.

Summary:
Bad News !! As of June 31, 2006 the private owner of the center portion of this trail system has began harvesting the trees and the trails in this area have been destroyed by bulldozers. No trespassing signs have been posted. Bummer ! There is still some rideable trails to the East and West side of the original system, but in my opinion the best part of the system is now gone. The landowner has stated that security will now be on-site to protect the harvesting equipment and that trespassers will be prosecuted.

Recommended Route:
Go somewhere else, Anthills, Jack Brooks or Memorial Park

Summary:
There are not much to these trails but they are not bad considering where they are located in Houston. I do not recommend anybody traveling a far distance to come here but if you are relatively close to this trail then give it a shot. It will take you a few times to figure out where certain trails go because there are no markers with tons of interconnects. There are a few technical spots throughout the trail but if you are gutsy try some of the BMX jumps and setups. I believe it is interesting that the locals made this trail and continue to improve on it.

Recommended Route:
Try all to get enough mileage for a good workout
