Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

, from Houston Summary: These trails suck. I know some have put in the effort to make them nice, but they still suck (sorry trail gnomes). I went to the swamp with great expecations, only to be sorely disappointed. The trails are soggy and the people (non-bikers) are downright scary (READ: Take your gun). I guess if you live close, they would make for an ok ride occasionally (out of boredom), but other than that, you will be best served by finding somewhere else to ride... Recommended Route: The other direction.... Other recommended trails in the same area: Memorial or maybe ant hills...

, from Colorado Summary: An excellent training circuit to work on all your technical moves. You get it all here - roots, logs, rocks, off cambre, natural vert ramps...jump off into the concrete of the bayou for some psuedo-slickrock. This is a good ride to hone skills and learn new ones (Read: GO BIGGER). The access trail on the west side of the bayou is good for beginners as a way out of the Swamp when they've had enough of the trails. A great taste of trails. Good for the dog and the wife. Recommended Route: Start at the RR tracks on the south side and pick your way to the Fun Bowls. Drop in, play around, and follow the orange ribbons for the main trail. Numerous off-shoots will keep you peddeling in circles till you're dizzy. Other recommended trails in the same area: You'll have to sniff these out yourself.

, from houston Summary: Just found out about this trail recently (from this site), have lived in this area for over a yr. It's a fun ride, few technicals, and I'm usually the only person on the trail... like the previous poster said, it's a break from MP. If there is any help needed in clearing this trail let me know via my e-mail. Recommended Route: still mapping it out Other recommended trails in the same area: Ho Chi Minh, Area 51

Ridden Trail: Every few months

Reviewed by: WaveDude Summary: Come out and ride. Trail gnomes have been at work cleaning up the trails. They're in great shape now and ready to be ridden. Some fun, twisty single-track and two bowls with potential for some drops/hucking. Good escape from Memorial Park. Park at TC Jester pool, ride south and ride across the RR track bridge to get to the south entrance of The Swamp. Recommended Route: Too many to describe

, from The Woodlands, TX Summary: Went there on 1/13/02 for first time, these trails are decent but not recommended. They are rather urban, not a great "back to nature" feel here, too much traffic/train noise. Also, not great for cross-country workout. There are definitely cool sections but there are not long continuous dirt sections that I have seen at Lake Bryan, Rocky Hill, Ruston, etc. If I lived within a bike ride from there I would ride these trails occasionally but not worth the drive to them. Recommended Route: Regular trails Other recommended trails in the same area: Hershey Park much better than The swamp.
