Katie Jackson Park

Average Rating:    (4 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 1

The Katie Jackson Trail is the product of a partnership between the City of Dallas and DORBA. It is located on the SE corner of the President George Bush Turnpike and the North Dallas Toll Way. It consists of trails in the woods along White Rock Creek and alongside of the new North Bark Dog Park to the North. It also has Dirt Jumps that progress from beginner to expert. There are 2 entrances into the park. The North entrance is in the North Bark Dog Park behind the restrooms. At this time the North entrance is currently locked and used for construction/ maintenance. The South entrance is at the end of Haverwood Lane. The trail is off the Concrete Walking Path, 180 degrees from the parking lot in Katie Jackson Park.

Katie Jackson is an intermediate trail with several intermediate technical features and a BMX jump area. The north side of the trail is fast and flowy with several technical features with some moderate climbing. The south side is flatter but has some great views along the White Rock Creek. Overall, this is a beginner trail with several intermediate and a couple of advanced features.

The trail is currently poorly marked and is unfortunately cut in half by recent development (DORBA is aware of and is dealing with the problem) making things very confusing ride riders that are not familiar with the area. Currently (Spring 2013) the trail is poorly marked as there have been several cases of vandalism to the posted signage. Seemed like a little known jewel when I was there however conditions were poor at the time. Got the impression that during dry periods the trail would be a killer 30 minute loop with all kinds of jumps an obstacles throughout. Def want to check again.
