Cross Country Rider Summary: Short quick ride Recommended Route: This place is 100% better than it was in 04. Nothing epic, but epically better than before.

Cross Country Rider Summary: I am new to the area and live in Arlington so the trail is what is nearby. I am spoiled on having ridden in Nor Cal and So Cal. But I am from Houston where the elevation is only negative :P (We bayou bike)
RLP is well taken care of, but it is a mixed use trail, at least there are no horses! But there are hikers (always smile and be courteous, they expect the worst from you, surprise them with a smile) and often dogs, and seems like every other time I end up with dog crap on my tires and sometimes on me! Please curb your dogs when its on the trail!!!
Could be better marked. It is unidirectional, at the trail head you follow the sign, if you go straight instead of right, and if you go left later on, where there is a dip, you will have some fun rolling and somewhat technical trails and often less populated. I am pretty sure it is a legal part of the trail, I don't see a sign either way, and I see enough people out there that I think it's ok.
Remember the trail does have a directionality, I believe it puts the hikers in the opposite direction so we see each other. But if your going the wrong way, believe me, some one will tell you!
It is not a trail I would go out of my way for, but if it is close to you, it is not awful, my only real complaint is there is not anything with extended climbing. Other wise there is enough technical and fast loops to keep your chops up during the week for your weekend ride elsewhere. Also if you are new, or taking someone who is it is a great place to start.
If you are new you might want to print a Google map so you have some reference points, but the park is not that big that you could get lost for very long and most folks are friendly.
In the spring you very well may see a snake. I've sen possums, "wildcats", and stray dogs. The stray dogs are discovered quickly and taken away.
I don't know about crime, but I have heard second and third hand accounts of cars being broken into, so park smart, and secure your stuff.

Cross Country Rider Summary: This is a good trail for beginners or if you just want to get out and enjoy a fast winding track. Mostly flat with lots of twists and turns

Cross Country Rider Summary: This trail was so much better before. Back in the 90's there were miles and miles of trails. There were 3 different BMX jump areas it was great until the city of Arlington stepped in and shut it down. I guess they'd rather have kids at home getting stoned and playing video games than out exercising. I used to ride there everyday at least 10 miles it was great. I went back a few months ago and it was so lame I was embarrassed to take my friend who had never MT Biked before. I guess it's good for old people and little kids w/ training wheels now but it sucks for anyone who is a semi-serious biker and remembers the old days. I was out there once and ran into a guy that was yelling for help cause he was lost. Saw a huge Armadillo too. You used to be able to go way back in the woods and there were steep runs and a lot of technical stuff. Now all the old trails are blocked off. :( Recommended Route: Pull into park make U turn and go somewhere else. Other recommended trails in the same area: Cedar Hill State Park
