RockLedge Park: (LAT 32deg 58' 49", LON 97deg 03' 52") This park is just north of the dam, off of Fairway Drive. Take Highway 26 (either to or from Grapevine, depending on which way you're going) until you get to Fairway Drive, just about a mile west of the Airport Hilton. Turn north on Fairway Drive (only way you can turn right now!), and just after you drive over the dam, you'll see Griffis Corner store to your right, and just before it to your left will be the entrance to Rock Ledge Park. Drive all the way to the back of the park along the lake and park. You can see the trail from the parking lot. There is usually water here.
Sneaky Pete's Trailhead: (LAT 33deg 00' 00" LONG 97deg 05' 58") Take FM3040 from Lewisville and go west until it crosses 2499. Continue west and take the second left (the first left turn goes nowhere) onto McKamy Creek Road. Follow it until it T's into Simmons. Turn left at the stop sign at Simmons. At the next stopsign, turn right, and follow along until you see the Marina/Restaurant sign, where you take another right. The parking will be in front of you, about 1/8 mile up.

Summary: This is one of the cleanest trails I have been to. Apart from a storm that passed by and made some debris on the trail itself, it has maintained in good conditions. In some areas, you will encounter thorns that will give you a nice flat unless your running tubeless (Solved that problem for me). When rhe weather gets hot, it's like your breathing in glass because of all the dust (only happens when you run in a train) and gives you a very difficult time breathing. It consists of very loose sand in some sections that will ruin your momentum after a bit, but as long as you hammer through it, you'll be fine. Some areas are notorious for pinch flats and some places will cut race tires or tires witrh very thin sidewalls. As long as you carry a spare tube and a pump, your set. There are about three or four technical climbs and they have a easy route or line on the sides usually. The funnest way is to do the trail as fast as you can, averaging about 12 to 16mph on the actual trail.

Summary: There is "lots of traffic" at this trail because its a cool ride. You will never find a cool and convenient place that is a secret. Being a social person, I enjoy seeing other people and there is still plenty of time without seeing anybody - especially if you ride the full length in and out (20 miles). I classify myself as weekend warrior, but I can hang with moderate level racers on their training rides and I think this trail has an enjoyable level of challenge. I moved here from Austin and even being spoiled with all the great rides there, I think north shore is great, too.
Recommended Route: Any way is fine. Staying away from the shore is generally more challenging/interesting.

Summary: DISCLAIMER: Go in through the Murrell Park entrance in Flower Mound, it is free for cyclists as of April 2009. Grapevine at the dam has started charging $5 to park. I go to this trail several times a week, so there is no way I could do that if it were $5 every time.
This is a pretty good, long trail. The two trail ends, in grapevine and flower mound, seem to be the most technical, it is pretty easy-going through the middle several miles. The most technical part is the north trail at twin coves marina. It has some large rocks and steep climbs, but still rideable and everyone should try it once. I just ride a hard tail and sometimes lock out my front fork, haven't had a problem yet.

Summary: Overall: a really good, long ride. The front section is really scenic and has some fun rollercoaster sections. The creek crossings are maintained well. Some challenging sections but nothing really unridable. Just like some other reviews, the last couple of miles are defininetly the most technical. We were visiting from Oklahoma and everyone was really courteous and with 13 riders no collisions or even a close calls that I know of, and we were there on a Saturday. I recommend this trail.
Recommended Route: There's not much of a choice. It's an out and back. If your not in a hurry or someone gets injured, stop at Petes. It's down the road from the pavillion.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Knob Hill
