Cross Country Rider Summary: I moved to the Waco area this summer and I have been riding the Cameron Park trails about 4 months. Speaking as an experienced rider, I definetly have enjoyed the trails. There is some good climbing and as much technical singletrack as you want. The trails are well maintained and you're never far from a main road.
If you use a map (LBS has them free) you can't get lost. Without one, if you're new to the trail, it's easy to get turned around. Unlike the trails I'm used to where there is one main route and many shorter offshoots; this trail at first seemed like a spaghetti bowl with trails going all over the place. After a few rides, though, it gets much easier to navigate through them.
My only complaint is regarding the lack of "beginner" level trails. My 8 year old son rides with me and the trails where we moved from had something for kids/true beginners. There's not much here and truthfully, my son gets a better 'cross workout than MTB workout. He doesn't have quite the ideal gear selection, but even if he did there is so much stuff that's beyond his skill level. I have to give him credit, though; he keeps coming back for more. Recommended Route: Any way you want Other recommended trails in the same area: Don't know any other yet....

Cross Country Rider Summary: I've ridden all of the trails in the surrounding Dallas area and this trail blows them all away. The park itself is beautiful and well maintained. There's also a great frisbee golf course as well. The trails have some of the nicest scenery I've seen in Texas.
This trail system has more than enough for everyone. A very scenic super easy trail (River Trail) goes from one end of the park to the other between a 200+ sheer rock cliff and the river. Interspersed along the way are are several trails that branch out all over the place that range from beginner to expert. There are a lot of very hilly technical trails with rocks, roots, switchbacks and ledges that will challenge both skills and fitness.
Most of the trails are marked with the trail name and level. In my opinion several are underrated. There was one extremely steep 100' descent with logs, roots, and boulders along the way that was rated single diamond that was crazy.
Cameron Park is great for the explorer type because of the way the trails branch out. Your never far from a road or the main trail along the river so it's difficult to get lost. Just pick one and go. There are surprises around every corner.
It is well worth a several hour drive to Cameron Park. I'm definitely going back. Recommended Route: Here is a map that my be outdated but may prove useful.

When I go back I'm going to take this route to cover as much of the park as possible:
Park anywhere near the entrance and head to the river. Go west and get a warm up on the easy River Trail, following it through the Rhino and Hale Bopp trail. This will take you to the opposite end of the park (Lovers Leap). Go behind the baseball field and follow the trails, keeping right, all the way around the park. You'll end up back near the beginning.
Take a break, eat lunch or whatever.
Go back down the River Trail and go exploring the trails that branch off for the rest of the day.
