Cross Country Rider Summary: Well, there seem to be mixed reviews on the technical level of this trail. No part of this trail is actually "expert" in it's technical level, however the hardest part consists mainly of long rocky rooty climbs, not terribly steep, just steady 50-100ft climbs up rugged loose terrain, which can wear a rider out after awhile. However this "expert" section is at the farthest end of the trail so anyone who might not be comfortable can easily bypass it beforehand. The "expert" section starts with 2 bunny-hop logs, and those to me are probably the most challenge on the trail (other than a really tight switchback descent into a ditch around a tree, LOL, but even that won't hurt you if you don't make it or need to step off to turn (the shorter your bike the better on these trails).
The entire trail is full of VERY tight twisty wooded sections, crossed occassionally by small ditch sized gullies, but really nothing at all dangerous, one pretty good descent (maybe 10ft) into a gully, but overall, nothing "expert" about the whole system. If you are tired before getting to the red "expert" section though, go ahead and take the last turn before it, because it WILL wear you down.
Final note, if at any point you realize you've bitten off more than you can chew, there is a fire road through the middle of nearly the entire trail, which you can bail out on. Note that some sections of the fire road are actually more fun than the trail, it's in horrid shape, and has some very fast straight descents through terribly rutted rocky loose material, LOL, "road" is an oxymoron, the trail is MUCH better groomed overall (but not as straight clearly).
Overall a fun ride, no real scenery, trees, trees, trees, ditch, trees, it is very unforgiving (this trail and RCP made me cut 1/4" off each side of my handlebars due to not fitting between some trees), some sections go in "V"s between trees where even your pedals don't want to clear, in all it's a lot of fun, just watch your handlebars, there are no real drops or dangers to speak of.
Aerobic rating is based on the expert loop included, otherwise it'd be a 3.
Technical difficulty is a 3+, other than tight turns there is nothing REALLY technical, just a few leg-weary climbs
Overall, 3-4 rating fun, worth the occasional drive, but not all the time. Recommended Route: The whole trail is one large loop, with crossovers bisecting for smaller loops, so ride till you are ready to turn around and look for the next loop. Color-coded markers are on the trail corresponding to the trailhead map which is also available online at dorba.org. Other recommended trails in the same area: Grapevine Northshore for more of a skills challenge
Rowlett Creek Preserve for similar fun woodsy riding
Knob Hills for a simple aerobic workout.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Another one of my home trails in the fall and spring. More technical than Isle D'Bois and longer. Trails can be ridden by all levels due to the loops and cutoffs before harder sections. Toughest section technical wise should be rated for intermediate to advance riders. Could be tough for people not use to technical riding or learning to ride with clips.

Cross Country Rider Summary: In a nutshell, this is a relatively boring trail. A good place to take a beginer or a girlfriend, but not a place for advanced riders. My buddy and I were excited to try this trail this weekend, being one of the only trails within 200 miles of Dallas we hadn't riden. Some of the other reviews label this course as very technical, and advanced. Even the expert loop on this course was about as difficult as an easy section of Grapevine.
I will say there are alot of tight trees that keep you on your toes if your trying to full throtle the trail. Recommended Route: None Other recommended trails in the same area: Erwin Park off 380 would be In this area I suppose. If your in the DFW area you've probably done it, if not it's a must do...all the tight trees and turns of this trail, with 3 times the fun. More var
