Longview Park/Stephenson Preserve

Average Rating:    (4.5 of 5)

Several miles of tight, twisty singletrack running through a mixture of cedar forest and grassy fields. There is a small BMX area with jumps and berms. Loamy, needle-strewn trails with dense foliage. Small cemetery from the early 1900s at one end of park (original owners of land). Hidden away in and around a municipal park in the middle of South Austin, 5 minutes from great restaurants and other amenities. Quiet, private, and rarely packed (I''ve only seen one other rider in all the times I''ve ridden it).

Summary:
A complex intertwine of many trails in a small square area. It will take a bit of time to figure out the lines and piece them together for the best ride. Consists of a valley with two ascensions on either side, difficult to get lost if you know the roads that border the park. A tremendous amount of flow and berm, a great place for beginners as there are challenges as well as easy line. Fun for all but very few jumps or drops. A very hardtail friendly area.

Recommended Route:
the trails are behind and to the north of the baseball field. The BMX section of the park, in the valley, is the hub of all the trails.
