Reimers Ranch

There are three loops a green (8 mile), blue (10 miles) and black (13 miles). All the loops have elevation and are tight in some places, fast in others. The terrain can vary from rocky to fast and smooth.
Find Hwy 71 north to RR 3238 (aka Hamilton Pool Road) west or 11.7 miles. Reimers Ranch will be on your right. Follow the dirt road for 2.6 miles to the farmhouse. Pay at the farmhouse then park in the parking lot 50 yards past the house.
Summary: An excellent trail with plenty of variety. Good for beginners and challenging fast/technical for better riders. The local club, Austin Ridge Riders, opened up fresh trail for the April 5th TMBRA race. I found the trail technically challenging when trying to "clear" the ledges/descents at race pace. Although the older sections were eroded and rocky, the newer sections had good ground cover.

Summary: Rode the 10 mile expert loop on March 17, 2008 in preparation for the upcoming TMBRA race in April...Was in shock to how little bit of climbing was on this loop...especially being in the rugged hill country..its seems like your going back and forth across the hills with a lot of big rocks to ride over..there are some tight rocky singletrack areas too...there were about 4 uphill rock ledge climbs that were about 3 to 5 feet in height...it was better to dismount than to attempt to ride over them, especially after i crashed and banged my front big chainring on the large boulders (rocks)....most of the trail was smooth dirt and it seemed like a lot of the trail was fast downhill..they have one section which is a long fast downhill ride...the double diamond expert area was basically a little ditch with large rocks..if you pick the right line its no big deal to ride it....like i said earlier, very little climbing for the hill country...the pedelnales river runs through the ranch and is beautiful...the water is emerald green...pretty place to ride..wish i lived in the hill country...take care and go enjoy the ride.
Other recommended trails in the same area: FlatRock Ranch in Comfort, Texas, if you like alot of climbing..about 3,000 feet per 25 mile lap..

Summary: Wow! What a layout...something for everyone.
The trails are unbelievably long (18-20 miles), have some drops, have some good climbs, fair ramp jumps, lots of twists and turns, good all-out balls to the wall high speed areas, and some nice scenery.
Trails are marked well and are in good shape...be very, very careful of the double black diamond trails - i.e. just pick up you bike and hike, especially back by the river.
Interesting note - all of the Cedar has been cleared, which is a refreshing change of terrain.
Recommended Route: Right just before you get to Hamilton Pool.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Goodwater trail, Walnut, Barton Creek, etc.

Summary: This trail is absolutely SWEET!!!! It's got everything for everybody, fast straight, twisty hardpack, to technical slowgoing rocks and roots. It's got jumps, harpin turns (with burms) and everything else to keep you smiling. I don't know why others are bashing this trail. I personally think it rocks. The trail builders did a fantastic job of putting a lot of trail, in a relatively small area. Granted, the trail does double back on itself a lot, but if you want a long, fast, fun ride, Reimers is the place to get it.
Recommended Route: Black Diamond (Race Loop)
Other recommended trails in the same area: Warda, BLORA, Rocky Hill and my favorite, Canyon Lake.

Summary: The trail was NOT designed and built by the Austin Ridge Riders, despite what someone alleges below. Volunteers from Austin's mountain bike community built it and maintain it. The double black diamond section is constantly being expanded and quite technical.
This piece of land is becoming a Travis County park in the near future, and the status of the trail is uncertain. Ride it while you can.
