Summary:
Overall fun and great for beginners. Watch out for hikers and other cyclists. Lots of people. Some technical parts, some twisty flat areas. Almost all shaded. Must cross river at two points which can be sketchy after rains. It's possible to start behind the local high school--kind of nice. I suggest riding from South Austin into park--great workout.

Recommended Route:
We live near Ben White and 35, so we rode from home. On the way to the park are some street sections with no shoulder or bike lane, but once you get onto McKinney Falls Rd, great bike lane into park. Started mtn biking right down by entrance gate and ended there too.

Summary:
We found the dirt trail across the rocks and started there. This trail is terrible--leave it to the hikers! It's a flat, simple trail that's good to haul ass on but that's it. I came around a corner, hit a stump(which was hidden by stickers & overgrowth) and biffed it pretty hard. For biking, It's not worth the $2 to get in.

Summary:
Short, just under 3 miles. Not real technical, the eastern part of the park could be a bit challenging for beginners. The internal twisty singletrack is my favorite. Smooth, twisty, push it 'til your tires start to break loose. Can do a lap in 15-20 minutes, fun to go out there and turn a handfull of laps. Even has a small bit of climbing as you leave the internal twisties.

Recommended Route:
clockwise

Summary:
Good for beginners, not technical at all. Watch out for hikers, dogs and people with strollers! It's not a real long loop but will work up a sweat if you ride it diligently. But be careful, you don't want to flatten the hikers. Oh and bring an extra tube, the mesquite thorns are barbaric, don't get raked across the face with one!

Recommended Route:
Park near the bathroom and ride both directions.

Summary:
This is a paved hike-bike trail with a few hills in either direction. Only technical park was dodging walkers and their dogs. You could add this to the Homestead trail also at this park for a total workout using this loop to warm up or cool down. $2 a person to get into park.

Recommended Route:
I parked at building that has scenic over-look...then rode the loop counter clockwise.....

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Zilker park hike & bike for the same easy ride.
