Racer Summary: I live in San Antonio and make my way to Zilkar park once or twice a year. Have ridden there probably a dozen times. It's a nice trail system. The further back you go, the more difficult it gets. If yo don't live in Austin it's worth the trip to go ride it. In the summer time you can cool off in the spring fed pool. Recommended Route: Start in the parking lot located at the pool. Follow the trail along the river bed. Stay as close to the river as possible and do not wander off on trails that take you away from the river as you will find that they turn into hiking trails. Remember that you are sharing the trails with walkers and runners. Be courteous. Other recommended trails in the same area: Smithville- About 40 minutes East of Austin. Worth the drive!
SAN ANTONIO:
OP Schnabel Park
MacAllister
Tapatio Springs
Comfort

Cross Country Rider Summary: Great trial, just gets a little boring after using it day in day out. It has its share of technical challenges and for the most part it is fairly easy. Right now there are no water crossings, the creek is dry, so it makes for one long stretch of riding. Hill of Life is awesome, thats probably because i am originally from east Texas and we dont have that kinda climb over there. Do watch out for peds and if you are a begginer or intermediate, watch out cuz i think some pro practice out or something and will run you over if you dont watch out. All be it, everyone for the most part are friendly. Get out and ride it, and take a couple of the off shoots, they make for a good time. Recommended Route: Whatever floats your boat or finds your lost remote Other recommended trails in the same area: Boykin Springs(easy short but fun)

, from austin, texas Summary: the beginning is really rocky and open...but after this...it gets fun. pretty much the whole ride is along a stream/creek that has crystal clear water that's magnificent. you'll have to cross the water a couple times..at least 3 so be ready to lift your bike...its all in fun though. also, ASK where to go ..there are so many turns...i've gotten lost twice in there... but overall, the scenery is perfect especially for anyone living in austin who deals with busses and downtown...the trail is fun and looks harder than it really is Recommended Route: start at Zilker part area (might be some construction) and finish at the 'hill of life' ...i'd guess it's at least 8 miles Other recommended trails in the same area: MLK onto lamar...this is a VERY steep hill that's actually a road...but i like to go down it everytime on my bike ride to the Greenbelt

, from austin Summary: The hill itself is right now torn up so the more advanced riders should like it. The ride is easy-medium pending your skill level. full suspesion is recommended no shock absorvers is suicide. the ride after the hill to the left is what i would recommend but it is short and you might want to try both ways. the left has flat parts with some spread out technical parts but the hill is the most techinical. There is numerous swiming spots for breaks but in the summer the waters pretty much gone.
Recommended Route: Go into Scottish Woods on the main road intil you see cars parked then ride up to the left and go through the metal thing and you are at the top. Enter at the top of the hill go down the hill and then you can go left or right for a good ride then to leave ride back up the hill Other recommended trails in the same area: the rest of the green belt
