Fantastic Texas Hill Country riding, open year round with free land access during non-race weekends.
Singletrack, dirt roads, observed trials areas, Dual Slalom course, and a pump track. Considered by many racers to be one of the more technical races in the Texas Mountain Bike Racing Association (TMBRA) circuit, but with plenty of appeal to riders of all abilities.
12 miles of single track, 6 of jeep road on property. Trails include a hike/bike suspension bridge across the river. Hackberry Rd is also a fun ride. 14 miles in total length, and a dirt road, Camp Eagle sits at just past the halfway point.
Host of the Camp Eagle Classic Mountain Bike Festival, a USA Cycling Mountain Cat 4 event and the largest mountain bike festival in Texas. Fall Series opening race for the Texas Mountain Bike Racing Association.
Also has the headwaters of the Nueces River with fantastic swimming and kayaking in clear water, and 185' limestone cliffs for rock climbing.

Summary: Great course with some technical areas with lots of climbing and descents. Not all the course is technical. You can keep riding the course uphill or follow some of the trails that do not climb. I've rode the easy loop which was pretty fun and the harder loop which was very physically challenging (where all the technical spots are).
Recommended Route: Not sure. The course was marked for a race. There are maps at the entrance.

Summary: Probably a more techincal course compared to other trails in Texas, but definitely has great riding for every type of rider, and a lot of cool stuff you probably won't ride anywhere else in Texas like a huge suspension bridge over the river. Speaking of the river, you won't see any nicer, clearer, colder water anywhere. Great to jump into after a hot day riding. All in all one of my favorite places to ride in the whole state.

Summary: this is a great trail system in 2 respects.
1st...trail themselves.....
12 miles of well designed and developed ST that rolls, winds, and climbs thru beautiful hill country limestoned terrain, and by ,thru and near the crystal clear nueces river.
trails are mostly intermediate and advanced and are well marked. trail itself is well worn ST, that although taversing limestone;limestone is abraded enuff and consolidated so there is no loose scree.
there is almost a mile of slickrock on armadillo trail that runs down solid rock creekbed , across rock ledge paralleling river, across swinging bridge and down neueces river bed.
advanced trails are tuff enuff in spots to be considered expert.
be sure to ride up to windmill on jeep road for scenic views of hill country. there are 4 miles of jeep road that allow you to access all 1400 acres.
2nd....these kind folks of Camp Eagle Christian Camp open their 1400 acre property nestled on a bend in nueces to any and all .....Free of Charge.
you can bike, swim , fish, canoe, hike, and for nominal fee, camp.
this is a wonderful getaway for any city slicker..no light pollution, no noise pollution(untrue of most state parks), solitude and beauty.
this is the true Christian spirit( and i am an agnostic), to allow public access to this wonderful property.
kudos to Camp Eagle
best of the best!!!!!
