Big Sandy Creek Horse Trail
6 reviews

18 miles of well-marked, unimproved, logging roads. Hard compact sand with alot of grass cover. Mostly shaded with some open spots. The trail is one way in to the loop and the same way out. Doubletrack with some gentle hills.

Summary:
This is a good trail to enjoy nature. There is no difficulty except the sand in some areas, it is just a good relaxing place to ride. The 18 miles goes by pretty quick. If you want to enjoy a nice laid back ride this will be a good one

Summary:
Hot, Hot, Hot, Hot, Hot, did I say how hot it was. I had no idea this trail was a long as it was for some reason I figured it was 5 miles or so and ended up running out of water around mile 12 or 13. Take lots of water. Very easy ride though no evelvation hikes anywhere, just a plain boring hot trial. If you have to drive more than 30 min. its not worth it, try Double Lake instead.

Summary:
Classifying this trail as intermediate is a misuse of the word intermediate. Its should be classified simply as easy / beginner. There is nothing remotely technical about it. The greatest difficulty is the long shallow grades which, if you ride briskly, will task your thighs. The trail is, however, remote, quiet, and serene. It was a pleasure to ride in the early spring. Go there for an easy peaceful ride.

Summary:
This trail is very easy with mostly flat terrain. If you're looking for technical stuff, this trail is not it. But if you're looking for a peaceful and serene place to ride, the trail is perfect for you. Very little people actually ride this trail. There are some sandy parts but nothing severe. Surrounded by trees throughout the ride. It's a long try so it will be a good workout.

Recommended Route:
Take I-10 east from Houston. Take 69N in Beaumont. Take left on Honey Island Exit (1003) and then right on 943. From 943, take 1276 to Dallardsville and left on Sunflower Road.
