Ridden Trail:

Summary:
All the best trails are hidden and not marked. From the WEST side of the mountain are older hidden and much more challenging trails, none are marked but a good navigator will find them easily, at the base of the mtn., the trails shoot off of the Escondido Sewer Line dirt road, follow them up. Expert level, very difficult climbing, you will likely dismount 1-2 times at minimum. Downhill is just as challenging, sketchy rocks, fast straight with hard slow turns on cliffy edges.

Recommended Route:
Enter FROM the WEST.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Discovery Hills, expert/pro level riding only, hidden, most don't travel because way up in the hills, long hard climbs, best ridding around, there are entrances from: all around mtn.: Lake San Marcos, questhaven, mt. israel entrance, discovery hills paved road entrance, best riding around, someone will probably beat me up for posting this, pack your trash out, carry a snake bite kit, hit by a rattler up there and you probably won't come down the hill. Don't forget the water, inland valley dry heat.

Summary:
Not only was Questhaven changed to San Elijo for the million dollar homes, there is more changes in the works that can impact all who ride around here! The developer of San Elijo Hills now wants to stick a GOLF COURSE on the ridge between Elfin and San Marcos. They want to REMOVE a bunch of trails that go up the ridgline/Double Peak to make room for their golf course! These are trails that are already considered part of the City of San Marcos Trails System! Speak now or they will be lost forever.

I haven't ridden this trail yet, but the directions have changed... QUESTHAVEN is now SAN ELIJO!! (needed to change the name for all the million dollar homes being biult there).

ITS A BEGINNERS CHALLENGE, GO GET UM BOYS.....

Recommended Route:
Unless you live like, a mile from this place, its not worth your time.....Its been fire damaged, rutt central. The developers are closing in, and the place is tiny already, and very pourly maintained....

Summary:
This trail is a lot of fun. Some technical some fast. There are A LOT of water bars (even in places where they don't seem necasary) As an experienced trail user I feel that the water bars are there to make it difficult and discourage mountain bikers. 4 out of 5 hikers I encountered seemed less than happy I was there so please ride responsibly so we won't have to worry about any trail closures.

Recommended Route:
Way up trail is the main route. Very steep difficult climb but worth the effort. Once to the top take the Equine loop trail. (despite the name it is open to bike and a lot of fun)
