Summary:
Nearly all the trails provide excellent riding. You can be in the forested shade of the mountains one minute then into the open scrub of the lowlands. From the long climb to the top of Hot Springs Mountain to the roller coaster ride down, the double-track provides for great head-to-head competition and fun with your buds. The occasional cow in the trail adds to the excitement too.

Recommended Route:
I recommend you stay for a night and explore for yourself.

Summary:
About 8 miles of sheer up...folks it don't get much better than this! Went up today when the rest of the west was shrouded in gloom- the desert, as always, was beautiful. Just put it in low, grind away, and try not to pass out! Also, bring bug repellant- the deerflies really love slow moving targets. The Choke Cherry Valley was not my idea of fun...I can think of more pleasant things to do after climbing several thousand feet than plowing through sand, but the scenery was awesome. I'll definitely be coming back. BTW, I was only charged $5 for entrance...maybe because it was afternoon. Have fun! Not a five star because of the friggin sand and flies, but worth the accomplishment.

Recommended Route:
Just go up...

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Haven't done too much in north county, but the climbing was similar to Sheephead, while the desert level was more like McCain Valley. Still would rather be at Corral Canyon, though.

Summary:
This ride will work your legs. You're grinding to the top of the hill err...MOUNTAIN. Its not a technical ride but the scenery is awesome. The double track winds its way all the way to the highest point in San Diego County (no its no the Lagunas transplants). 360 degree views of the desert and the Henshaw Valley. You can return by taking the "Dangerous Road" through Chokecherry Canyon back to the reservation entrance.

Recommended Route:
Start at the the reservation entrance ($12 Fee). Follow the double track up the to the top of Hots Springs Mountain. 2000 Feet of vertical (approx.).

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Palomar, Jasper Trail, Coyote Canyon (down the hill), and all the Julian area rides.
