Cross Country Rider Summary: Stone Mountain is more than just a downhill rush. I would recommend riding around the entire mountain on trails that are clearly marked. It gives a combination of flat sandy passes, rigorous climbing, techinal low speed downhill (due to erosion), shady high speed single track with sweeping curves thar are so so fun, and a pleasant ride through the quite nature of San Diego Country Estates. I would use this as a training course usually doing two loops around the mountain. In the winter, during the rainy season is fantastic, streams to go through and overall a great ride. Lucky for you, as am I, if you live in the Estates. Recommended Route: Start at the Village store, heading north-east crossing Gunstage Rd. You will se the trail at the bottom of the mountain. Follow the trail at the base of Stone Mtn running parralel with Gunstage. Just follow that trail around the Mountain. Enjoy Other recommended trails in the same area: The Equestrian Center at the end Of Gunstage Rd.
