Downhiller Summary: The fireroad from the saddle up to the top of North Fortuna has been completely sanitized. It is now as smooth as a baby's butt. I have always used the fireroad for the climb anyway. The north side facing the 52 has even more exposed rock than normal, making it a very fun technical trail. Well worth the hike. Suycott wash is pretty beatup and rutted, so it's not quite as fast although it's more technically challenging too. It's still a great trail for more experienced beginners to intermediate riders. Other recommended trails in the same area: North side of Cowles.

Weekend Warrior Summary: It's a pretty tough climb but a very good challenge. Coming down the north side of the mountain is a ton of fun. A little bit of exposure and some tight switchbacks but also a very good challenge. Nothing too un-rideable except for that huge rock about 3/4 of the way down after the little rock step section. A great challenge (at least for me) and lots of fun. Don't listen to the guy whining below b/c he couldn't ride much of it. Recommended Route: Usually start on Calle de Vida and head in and down to Suycott along the singletrack. Then head up the fire road and make a left at the saddle and up.

Cross Country Rider Summary: North Mt. Fortuna rocks. No, you can not do it all, unles you are Jimena Florit. Nothing like being beaten by a girl! So, stop you whinning and climb. If you can not do it today, then next time you will get a few feet further.
Trails are closed to 11/17/2003 do to wildfire. Respect the closure, or bikes will be banned. I say that as a SDMBA.com member who put in a few days of trail work at Mission Trials. Recommended Route: some place else for now.

, from North Park Summary: If you come up here you come to ride and see what you are made of. Not for whiners. Read the lengthy review below and it will remind you why you ride trails like this. Do it for the love of your surroundings and the enjoyment of pushing your limits. Thats what keeps me coming back to this route at least twice a week. Recommended Route: Grasslands, up the "Alley", right turn to Fortuna summit, down the other side and through Suycott into the oak groves... Other recommended trails in the same area: Rose Canyon, Sycamore Canyon, and the surrounding Poway trail network.

, from San Diego Summary: This trail sucks! Walk up, take a crappy trail down. This isn't mountain biking, mine as well just shuttle to the top if you can find a car that will climb the hill.
