Weekend Warrior Summary: This route is actually more commonly called "Grapevine Canyon" (do a search under that name). The Jasper trail is an optional start to it that makes it much better. It is all double-track, no single-track, but enjoyable. Fast, not technical. The Jasper trail part has up & downhill dirt sections, then it heads downhill to Grapevine Canyon, which is where you get most of the sand. The sand is rarely depp enough to have to walk. Watch out for cactus & catclaw acacia bordering the trail, & bring plenty of water & an extra tube always. Very scenic and fairly remote. If you like the desert, you'l like this ride. If you don't, you won't. Other recommended trails in the same area: Coyote Canyon, Pinyon Mountain.

Cross Country Rider Summary: the best part of this 40 mile loop is the ride up from borrrego springs, even though it's on the road. 15 miles of climbing should have it's rewards, but after you finally hit the trail it's sand city all the way to the bottom. i would highly recommend skipping this ride, it's one long sand trap and not much fun. there are better downhill rides almost anywhere, including any freeway overpass. Recommended Route: go somewhere else

Ridden Trail: Every few months

, from San Diego Summary: This is a fun descent that not too many people know about. You don't need alot of monkey motion suspension for this ride. It's just a solid 15 mile downhill with 3000 feet of descending. There is very little climbing and can be done comfortably on a hardtail. Mountain bikers wake up. This is a fun ride which can be made more challenging depending on the starting point. It's out in desert wilderness in the Anza-Borrego Desert and that's why not to many people know about it. Just watch out for the occasional 4x4. This ride can be made as difficult as you want!! Recommended Route: Start at the trailhead and descend down to Tamarisk Grove. If you want to do the longest possible climb in San Diego County then start in Borrego and climb from Borrego to the trailhead and descend (this is an enduro ride). Check in with Carrizo Bikes in Borrego for more information. If you are a novice to intermediate then start at the trailhead until you are comfortable with the trail. Other recommended trails in the same area: Nobel, Cuyamaca
