Escondido Jumps
10 reviews
 3.4 of 5

This area should only be ridden by those who are experienced @ dirt jumping, cyclocross, and DH. It's a really short, fast run down a hard-packed trail w/ switchback and burms. Jumps include a 15-20' long dbl w/ logs and tree parts to fill the gap; 20' dbl out of a sweeping, downhill burm that'll launch you into the left hander at the end of the landing into a 9 ftr that can be diverted (the trak out of this left is really soft so you have to pick your line into it well. The run finishes out with a smaller dbl/kicker at the road you ride in on and a sort of step-up type dbl across the road. There is a rumor that a new video is being shot here in Feb '03 which may include(if it's finished by then) the 35-40' road gap jump that is being worked on as you read this. If you see big motor cycle riders on the course, KICK THEM OFF!!! the guys on the little 50's are okay, and fun to watch them jump the larger doubles. Full face and pads recommended, but not required. Hardtails a must try.

Summary:
Unfortunately as of January, this excellent jump & berm park no longer exists. It has been dozed over to make room for more houses. The new hot spot is off Ted Williams in Poway. Shuttle runs can be made at the top and end down at Meadowbrook school.

this is to dallas ramirez. those trails you talk about, 88 acres a.k.a. gumball trails, are ruined, the motocross bro hymns and their 50's ruined the trails that my friends mike, chase, kevin, andy, and others all built. we were all out there making these trails that are now shut down. you are definantly not the only one to jump those jumps dude, sorry. hear of brandon turner? he's the first. we finished the jumps and he jumped them first. anyways, the cops in esco suck. they shut down every track in town and now i know how. they are lazy and go on to websites like this and check out local track listings. a good way to stop this is to STOP POSTING THE LOCAL BIKE TRACKS!!!!!

Summary:
to the man who directly emailed me, i live hundreds of miles from this area. my primary aggravation is with the threatening tone of the post below--not with law enforcement in general, as i appreciate the fact that cops have a very difficult and dangerous job to do. i don't have an answer to the problems private property owners have with motorcycles. given the noise, ruts and dust motorcycles create, i'd probably not want to have them on my land, either, if i lived close enough to the trails to hear them. but there we are--what steps did the property owners take to protect thier rights before resorting to a request for action from law enforcement? it has been proven that mountain bikes do much less damage to the trails than motorcycles or even horses. has there been any discussion with the landowners to permit the use of mountain bikes on some of thier property? i know that there are liability issues involved and don't understand the laws regarding such, but has there been any effort to make a compromise? i hate to watch law enforcement take draconian measures to solve a problem that is not a direct threat to public safety. i will always be opposed to the confiscation of bicycles or any implications of such, unless the subjects are directly involved in a felony. i sincerly hope that the parties involved in escondido sit down and work out a solution where everyone leaves the negotiating table happy.

Summary:
why don't the Police Officers of Eskibbibble County or whatever it is work with local riders to create a space that is legal for off road riding? why? because almost every cop i've ever encountered is a leather fetish punishmnent cretin and a control freak. yes, the propery oweners have thier rights, and you have a job to do. this is something i understand and respect. why don't you spend your energies on something a little more positive than using threats and intimidation on a website? the Total Zero Tolerance attitude usually won't get you anywhere. try not to beat up any riders you arrest in this area.
