Fullerton Loop

Average Rating:    (4 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 44

Nice rolling singletrack that makes a fun, challenging loop around parts of Fullerton. Short, steep climbs and some nice, fast downhills provide plenty of challenges and variety. Check w/ the Bike Beat in Orange, or TCB Cyclery in Fullerton for good directions as the trail can be tricky your first time out. The Bike Beat often has a Thursday night ride there which is a good way to learn the trail.

Summary:
Very convinience, in the middle of Fullerton behind those residential houses. there are a few street crossing. Mostly beginner trail, but a lot of racers practice here. It has a little bit of everything.
I ride here maybe 2 - 3 times a week, at nite. because I work till 5, start riding 630 from the courthouse. Safe for nite riding.
For first timer to this trail, better ride with someone that already familiar with this trail.
Eventhough it is mostly beginner, a lot of crashing here, perhaps some people just underestimate this trail, including me, broke my collar bone on easy and short downhill, slow crash, but wrong landing. I had hard crash here as well, but was OK. Hospital just down the street.
Highly recommended.

Recommended Route:
Clockwise, start from courthouse or the lake.
One full loop is about 10.8 miles.
Very good trail to practice your endurance.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Turnbull canyon and Powder canyon, they are more technical though.

Summary:
I'm new to mountain biking and havent done many trails yet but i had an absolute blast riding this trail. It never really reaches a point where i'm so tired because the climbs are easy and not very long. You're constantly going up and down. RIDE CLOCK WISE PLEASE

Recommended Route:
Start near the court house on Berkley and Harbor so you'll find plenty of parking. Just follow the riders through the trails. You'll see one taking off every 3 minutes or so but it doesnt get crowded.

Summary:
This is a great ride for beginners to intermediates and even experts if done fast. About 12 miles to do the full loop. Park at the Fullerton Courthouse and head north. After that it gets complicated, best to download a map or follow a friendly local. I rode the trail last night and it was in great shape, hardpacked, fast and grippy. There are a bunch of little extra singletracks off the main "freeway" sections.

Recommended Route:
Basically go clockwise but its a lttle bit more complicated.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Carbon Canyon has lots of great trails. Easy to put a 20-25 mile loop together.

Oh, and don't forget ro be careful when crossing the streets. You don't wanna get hit by a careless car driver.

Summary:
This is a pretty intermediate trail, varying from some small uphill climbs to some fun downhill slopes. A good thing about this trail is that you're riding in shade from all of the trees for a little more 50% of the time!

Recommended Route:
Make sure to ride counter-clockwise from the court house to avoid going against traffic. So far, I've only been able to ride about 50% of this trail, but hopefully I'll be able to go start to finish soon.

do not ride counter-clock wise on THURSDAYS, especially during the spring summer fall months as this is the weeky ride many folks inthe area ride as most peeps ride this ride clock wise...

Summary:
This trail is sweet. Its like an adventure within the city! I actually got a flat on Histcher trail and had to walk to the nearest bike store which was about 2 miles away. Other than that, this is a sweet trail with nice MTB'ers who were more than happy to guide me in the right direction when I got lost. For the first timers, go to www.geoladders.com and look for the trail route there. There are pictures and directions on how to traverse the loop (as well as other ones). The only reason why I gave this a 4 for aerobic difficulty was because I was not used to long straights as this loop provides. I usually climb or just descend on mountain trails, but the long sandy straights took it out of me! =) Anyways, go go go! Its fun and if you want to ride with me, let me know!
