Fairly flat trail until you reach the north end, but basically easy & mostly shady, which is good when the weather is hot.

Summary:
I live in the Pacific Northwest but had to work in socal area for 25 months. I Lived a few miles southeast of the trail and would ride from where I lived and had the trail as part of a loop I enjoyed after work. Had a couple of tricky Creek crossings and a tough climb at the end which could take you two different routes. The street to the trail is a good street with bike lanes to get their and back. Be aware the equestrians use the trail regularly!

Summary:
I road last week, post flooding. Trail is in good shape and getting better. Nice simple warm up and connects to other steeper challenges. This could be the start of an all day epic.

Recommended Route:
North and up Wood Canyon. Up Lynx. Back Southish on West Ridge. Then down Rock-It.

Summary:
Aliso Canyon is fun stuff and can be for any level. Alot of the most advanced trails are 3-4 mins. Some arent even on the map because too many people were getting hurt on them. Not really a good downhill place unless you go on my favorite "Stairstep" which is also more technical than most. Overall it has a trail for everyone and takes at around 20 mins to actually find a good trail.

Recommended Route:
Novice - "Coyote" Inter/Advanced "Carwreck" "Cholla" "Rockit" alot more...

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Laguna Coast Wilderness Park "very close to Laguna Beach"

Summary:

This trail is near where I live so I bike there from home entering off of Renaldi. Its a mild trail but very nice to ride. I am not sure but I think the trail went back futher into the hills at one point however there is a housing development going up and the trail pretty much dead ends there. You can make a left after crossing a creek bed and follow the trail but its really hacked up with sand bags and tarp to control water run off during the storm season. I am not sure what the distance from Rinaldi to the back end is but I would say its not more than a mile 2 at the most so if you are looking for longer ride this is not for you.

If you are a novice like me just getting back into riding then this is the trail for you, not to demanding but enough to work on balance, creek jumping and mild hills with out giving you a heart attack. I hardly ever see anyone there but I go early AM or late in the day after work.

Recommended Route:
There is a fire road about 20 yards from the main enterence that is gated, I enter there and is a streight shot to the back of the park.
