Cross Country Rider Summary: Just wanted to up date, that this ride is fairly free from scarey locals. I've ridden here a few times with no issues. There are a few private residences along the way that you need to stay out of & stick to the road at all times. Large groups, trash & high speeds on the lower road wouldn't help matters. But a great ride up to the hills & a good loop for the Sliverado Moterway.

Weekend Warrior Summary: I was hiking in the area today, November 08,2003 with my girlfriend and my dog. The "crazy guy" repeatedly tried to run us down with his truck. We want to do something about it and get the OC Sheriff involved. We can describe our assailant please send me any information that you can regarding incidences and your description of the "crazy guy" so we can tell the authorities if is the same person.

, from Sunset Beach, CA Summary: This is a great ride. First 2.5 miles up canyon is a gradual climb warmup before you start the 2 mile uphill. Beautiful scenery on top as you ride past Hidden Valley Ranch. As far as the crazy guy who shoots at you at the base of the climb, yes, I have been shot at, but guess what? they tore down his shack and he is gone :-)) The 26 mile loop is a workout so be prepared! You can always turn around a couple of miles past Hidden Valley and have a downhill back if you are running out of steam for @ 14 mile ride. Recommended Route: Park at the end of Blackstar Road, head straight up fire road past gate. Other recommended trails in the same area: Santiago Trail

, from Rancho Santa Margarita, CA Summary: This ride is a whopper, a strong climb up to the divide via blackstar (watch out for the Deliverence homesteaders), then the work really starts as the 10 miles of big rollers will eat you up, and by the time you get to the motorway you are either Tinker or toast. The descent down the motorway is a big 'ol steep, rocky singletrack, not for the fearful types......take plenty of water, powerbars, and suncreen, this ride is serious.......... Other recommended trails in the same area: Santiago trail, Holy Jim, Harding TT
