Trail Directions
101 fwy to Laurel Canyon, exit heading south towards the mountains. Head south on Laurel, up the canyon for about three or four miles to Mulholland Drive. Now you are at the top of the mountain, turn right on Mulholland, heading west for about 1 mile. As soon you see houses on the left, look for the first driveway on the right, and turn into the parking lot; if the houses disapear you went to far. You are now in the Beatty Dearing overlook parking lot. The trail head is at the overlook portion at the far end of the lot. Proceed for about 100 feet down the trail until you see a left hand turn, take the left turn; the straight will only loop around. Now you are hooked up to the trail, please be curtious to the hikers.

Summary:
WARNING: IT IS NOT CALLED THE BETTY DEARING OUTLOOK, ITS THE NANCY HOOVER OUTLOOK. supposedly the trail head is 100 feet down to the left at the fork. I went through the white gate, and down 100 feet and took a hard left. Got lost and found nothing close to any switchbacks or jumps, just someone's backyard. Anyone got say on where the trail ACTUALLY IS???

Summary:
Awesome single track local and it's very technical. This is the place to dial in your riding skills, water, steps & drop offs. Dont snooze or you will go over the bars again & again.Anyway check it out the ride is really kick ass or should I say it kicked my ass. Anyway I can think of a many reasons not to ride it, but the best is its not for whimps.

Summary:
i recomend riding up Dixie cyn going south. when you get to the fork go hard right. This takes you to a dirt road. follw it to Mulhuland and go left. take this to colwater cyn. From here enter the parking lot of tree People. Stay on the left then make a hard left on to the trail. Hang an immediate 180 degree right turn. Take this to the descent, another 180 degree turn. Bomb that then go straight. Stop at the Cipes benches on the left hand side. Make sure you pay your respects and resd the benches dedication. after that go up the big hill. Right before the fire road starts going down hill go right uo the steep double track. keep going up hill until you reach the summit. Stay left. get into a nice gear for down hill and rip it up. at the end of the single track stay left. f you feel daring there is a drop that is super fun. after all this find the fire road again. at this point you can either go down a single track, which is the best way, or go down trhe fire road. Al this is about nine to ten miles.

Recommended Route:
It says once a week but during the summer I'm on in tree people everyday. The trail mentioned (Dearing) is closed to bikes. There is no sign because some one took it down. The trail in a nice single track. just ride tree people or go to the Mullhuland fire roads(Up Havenhrst).

Other recommended trails in the same area:
have fun riding. E-mail me and I'll take you on the ride. wathc out for hikes, and ride safe. We are close to loosing these trails as well as Dearing.
