Ridden Trail: Once a week

Cross Country Rider Summary: I am fortunate to live close enough to ride this trail at least 2x a week. It is truly a great trail with wonderful single track and switch backs. If you don't live in the area, beware, it is 7500 ft in elevation and can be a little taxing if your not in shape. The trail is great at the beginning of summer and gets looser after every race. It is a great place to train and work on your skills!

, from San Diego Summary: A great XC race course. The trails are 100% rideable with no hike-a-bike sections. The course is very dusty and loose in the switchback areas. A very competitive course that includes technical riding and climbing. Recommended Route: see www.rimnordic.com for a map

, from Long Beach, Ca, USA Summary: A great place to ride and race. Somewhat technical but nothing severly dangerous. Any route you choose you'll find mostly singletrack (which makes for very fun racing), and there is a set of switchbacks that are quickly becoming a claim-to-fame for Rim Nordic. Expect loose conditions during summer months, time to put on some fresh knobbies? Most of the summer you'll find trail markers around the area for races, so its not likely you could get lost. A nice change from riding up at the Summit (Big Bear), and usually less crowded. Recommended Route: Its best to park near the Snow Valley ski area. Head across the road and up to your right. There are many options.

, from Long Beach Summary: fantastic singletrack and fireroads, very well maintained but not "pussified". The race series they have during the summer is fun and challenging and they really put on a good series. It hardly ever gets over 80.

, from Lake Arrowhead, Califirnia Summary: Rim Nordic is an XC ski area in the winter time. But, when the snow clears, it shows itself as some of the finest singletrack in the San Bernardino Mountains. Bev and Kerry Brown, the owners, take great care to groom and maintain the trail system and they throw a real competitive NORBA race series there. To ride during non-race times is free. All routes begin in the base area and they all go up. Typically, there's about 500' elevation gain in a lap here. The climbs can be very tecnical, particularly in switchback areas. At the top (7300'), it rocks! You fly through tight, twisty singletrack with birms, jumps, stream crossings, and whoopdedo's before dropping into some real fun downhill. And all in a classic alpine setting.... Singletrack is one of those overused terms, but at Rim Nordic, it's the real deal! A motorcycle could not hold a line on these less than a foot wide ribbons of dirt! In the spring, wildflowers go crazy; in the fall the oak and dogwood are brilliant. A must do ride in the local mountains. Check out their web site at Rim Nordic.com Recommended Route: Any of the singletrack routes out of the base area; they all interconnected. Other recommended trails in the same area: Grout Bay and Snow Summit in Big Bear. Santa Ana River Trail
